North Country Trail
The North Country National Scenic Trail is a premier footpath that one day will stretch more than 4,000 miles to link communities and wilderness areas across seven northern states. Already, almost 1,700 miles have been completed! The map below shows the projected trail in its entirety.

After Mr.latqis mentioned this trail on another thread, and finding there aren't any threads of this trail, I had to make one.

I did about 6 miles of the NCT near my hometown in PA, from the Old Stone House between Slippery Rock and Butler, PA to Moraine State Park...oh yeah, and back. And have done segments on the Allegheny National Forest in NW PA, and some of the Buckeye/NCT in OH.

There are many portions that haven't been created yet, so the trail has many segments that need connected. But when they are, this trail wil be the longest in the contemperaneous US.

yes, it will be. The NCT has many clubs in Michigan that have adopted sections for completion and up keep. I have hiked the part from Red Bridge Trailhead to Holenpoyl Damn (about 9 miles). This part is located near Manistee Michigan.

I've hiked the section in the Manistee Nat'l Forest in Michigan, about 120 miles. Very nice.

Next is a thru hike of the NCT in the Upper Peninsula.

Ironically, I just sent in my dues to the NCTAssociation this morning.

If anyone has questions about the NCT sections in northern Wisconsin, I have a guide book of Wisconsin trails that gives some details. Plus I have access to some people who probably can get me more info.

There are couple of backpackable sections that I know of south of Grand Rapids. They're good for overnights. Hey, has anyone ever tried backpacking on a snowmobile trail in the summer? I wonder if you could us them in the spots where the NCT isn't.

Oh, I know. I'm just trying to scam. They have designations like "horse trail" or "mountain bike trail" or "snowmobile trail" that are perfectly legal to hike on. It really doubles or triples the amount of trail that can be hiked. I was more curious about possible long distance routes in western Michigan. I think there are snowmobile trails from N. Indiana to the UP. I was just curious where the maps are. Anyway...

Oh, BTW, here they are. I wonder what they look like in the summer.

I also have hiked a piece of it in Wisconsin Pekka, up by Iron River. I also have a booklet solely on the trail and a couple of other things if anyone needs
