Good one Violin!” 6:53:40 PM 1/29/02 And Just As Heads Were Getting Bitten Off, Too “Tha'man spilled his own beans!” 11:04:37 PM 1/29/02 “At least that's better than spilling his own sprouts.” 12:11:36 AM 1/30/02 “Where did he do that? I just saw where it looked like Nigal figured it out.” 5:57:00 AM 1/30/02 “He forgot to log Mountain boner out and posted to a conversation on one of the Enron threads. Skully busted him first and he said, "You won't believe it! I went to the bathroom and when I came back their was a shadey guy in camo sneaking away from my computer.". Too funny!” 8:10:36 AM 1/30/02 “OMG, are you kidding? It was freakin' hilarious! A perfect ending to an extremely entertaining thread. I only wish it could have played out a little more first. Too fun!” 8:13:29 AM 1/30/02 “BTW, you should have seen Sauron frothing at the mouth over MR's rantings. Television can't compare to that kind of entertainment!” 8:14:40 AM 1/30/02 “I finally saw Blackhawk Down last night and I think I spotted MR in a couple scenes.” 8:26:51 AM 1/30/02 “I kinda thought he would be more of a "Mother" from Full Metel Jacket.” 8:40:07 AM 1/30/02 “he he he!” 10:19:40 AM 1/30/02 “I had a lot of fun with this one too and hoped it could be a never-ending, floating flame war. I was so ticked when I saw I’d posted as MR on that other thread. This one had epic potential. Special honors go to pekka and his “formal” assault comment. I also enjoyed TownDawg going from his “I know your trolling – good luck” attitude to getting sucked in. It was funny that the only time bacpac and I have seen eye-to-eye was when I was trying to be utterly ridiculous. MaryPhyl was only partly right – MR was a troll and a dingbat. Finally, what would this thread have been without frail Nigal? Thanks to everyone who posted. It was a grand time! Guess it’s time to take this baby over to backpacking.net.” 11:12:13 AM 1/30/02 “I though you'd have gonnen a kick out of it when I ask you if you packed a teddy bear as well.” 5:11:34 PM 1/30/02 “Yeah that was good walkindude. I guess I should also mention thinair's "sucked up, wussy, malnurished, homeless, gen X, homosexual, on paxcil, wet, crying, whining, leg humping, bleeding hearted, liberal, Ultralight Minimalist hikers" comment and humanpackmule's picture which really did make me LOL. I really thought that with a little more pushing Gear Slut would challenge me to an arm wrestle so now I'm puzzled on the most important issue on Trail Talk again.” 5:31:38 PM 1/30/02 “Yeah, Thinair f*ckin went off! LOL!!” 5:53:36 PM 1/30/02 “LOL Violin, it was actually your response to HPM's picture coupled with the next post from MR that clued me in to who was responsible. The rest was just gravy. Thanks for the ride. Like any good roller coaster, I only wish it had lasted longer.” 6:48:11 PM 1/30/02 “Fragile Nigal? Me thinks ol' Boner wasn't such a stretch for ya after all. Fukker :P” 11:58:06 PM 1/30/02 “LOL You done good Violin.” 2:48:41 AM 1/31/02 “I tried my 'Mountain Roamer' routine out on another board. They suck! They're being polite and ‘partly agreeing’ with me. It's terrible. Finally Nigal comes along and posts: Hmmmm... "I'd respond to this load of crap but I'm feeling a bit FRADGILE right now. Go ### up a rope Mountain Boner. 8) " Someone else posts: Pay no attention... Mountain Roamer- sounds like you've been hit by a troll! Keep giving us your input. Good hiking... What a bunch of lame-Os.” 3:33:17 PM 6/04/02 “I disagree. They do NOT suck!” 3:36:22 PM 6/04/02 “Thank goodness we have Nigal in our lives. :)” 3:36:47 PM 6/04/02 “Didja show them your picture? That should convince them you are real.” 4:33:33 PM 6/04/02 “No but someone did ask for my gear list. heh-heh.” 4:35:51 PM 6/04/02 “Git 'em” 4:38:20 PM 6/04/02 “is towndawg on that site, too? :P” 5:41:44 PM 6/04/02 “It seems like Ultra Light site's are really serious about it........... There is "another" ultra light site............. They asked for my gear list, I basically told them I do it the old fashion way....I don't take much...they wanted to know how many grams and oz everything weighed.....they seem like nice folks, but me thinks some of them, take themselves a little too serious. I keep wanting to ask how many bristles I should cut out of my tooth brush, but I'm a little afraid they will tell me ........."every other one". Another "Ultralite" site actually has 3 pages devoted to hiking nude.......... now that's light...” 5:59:53 PM 6/04/02 “And if you're John Bobbit, it's ultra ultra light. But those aren't "gear" pare-downs I'm willing to make.” 6:04:08 PM 6/04/02 “Chuckles” 6:42:55 PM 6/04/02 “thru-hiker.com is a pretty useful site with a light to ultra-lite approach.” 8:26:31 PM 6/04/02 “cool site peddy, thanx” 8:33:45 PM 6/04/02 “Please stay from thruhiker.com! The site is for past, current, and future thruhikers... and of course, 99% of you wankers here couldn't find a trailhead if I was holding your hand. :)” 8:47:41 PM 6/04/02 “Wanker??? I think I want to be one? Maybe I already am? By the way isn't there only one trail head to the PCT(one at each end)?” 9:11:13 PM 6/04/02 “that's not my hand youre holding” 11:16:15 AM 6/05/02 “I post on thru-hiker.com fairly often and have gotten great responses. They may just be taking pity on me.” 11:22:07 AM 6/05/02 “LOL! Only on TT do ya get to be called a "wanker" by someone who calls himself "pantscandy." I've only lurked on thru-hiker, although I did register. I think most of us are respectful folks on TT, we post in keeping with the tone of the site. Just because we know how to party, doesn't mean we go to church lookin' to laugh and get rowdy.” 4:02:17 PM 6/05/02 “I wouldn't call this website church. Hell is more like it.” 4:03:53 PM 6/05/02 “I was reading through one ultralight site, and learned some stuff. Those guys walk around with 25 lb packs that cost about $2500 friggin bux, if you add up all the $40 sox & plutonium core cookware they use. Where the hell am I supposed to find a mongolian greater lyre-tailed waterbuzzard down sleeping bag! !” 10:09:00 PM 6/05/02 “Maybe they're all bluff. It could be that they are not backpackers. Sort of like a show and tell convention.” 10:16:11 PM 6/05/02 talk about a wanker.... “I did a 3 day trip with a buddy of mine awhile back, he wanted to go ultra light....so we did..... I carried about 18 lb including water, he had 55 lb...when I asked him just what the heck he brought that weighted so much, he showed me 55 lb's of light weight gear.... ...everything he had was ultra light..... titanium pots, spoons, etc, tent, ground sheet, cord, sleeping bag, stove, fuel bottles, wash basin, camp chair, air mattress, kitchen kit, hammock, lantern, head lights...you name it. I realized they made all this stuff, I sold him most of it, I just never thought that some one would actually carry ALL of it at once.” 11:09:50 PM 6/05/02 “LMAO--that was a good one.” 12:07:56 AM 6/06/02 ultralight “i like this topic so i have a question,if 15lbs is ultralight, what is 30,40lbs thats what i carrie, i have see alot more people carrie more than i 50,60 ,70lbs how do you rate it” 3:08:43 AM 6/06/02 “well I call 40 normal and 70 crazy but thats me” 3:12:19 AM 6/06/02 “Weight is all relative. 30 Lbs on a 5'1" 100lb person might be a little heavy but on a 6'3" 210 lb person it might seem very light. I think that 30-35 lbs is a nice average weekend midweight with some luxuries packed, 20-30 lbs is light weight, and anything under 20lbs is ultra-lite. Anything over 50Lbs for a three season weekend...get help! For winter 40-50 lbs isn't unrealistic though. My conclusion...it sucks to be small because you still need to carry all the same essential stuff...find a big person to share your load.” 5:11:22 AM 6/06/02 “lmao stevemtndewd!” 9:00:24 AM 6/06/02 questionn “good thinking gear slut, well i'm 6"even and 220, and on the avarage carrie about 30-40 pounds,, my search&rescue pack is a arc'teryx bora 40, great for 3days,and have a bora 80 two really good packs, the bora 80 is good for 5plus days, but never go over 50lbs, ,,,,,anyway thanks for the come back,,,,,,,” 2:56:00 AM 6/07/02 “You know if you ever do give them your gear list they will bust their tails to help you get your weight down for big and little money. It has become a game there to know what is available and what it weighs. I hung out there for a long time--that is how I got to know Marge (the old gal) When my pack weight was approaching 0 I quit going there very often. Most of them are east coast AT hikers.” 5:09:24 AM 6/07/02 “With a new Auspex pack, 2 liter platypus and a 3/4 length Z-rest, I'm down to 20lbs solo with 2 days of food and 2 liters of water and I'm not ultra-light by any stretch. I'm still carrying a tent (Walrus Zoid1) and a water pump. To me, going ultra-light would mean going with a Tarp or Bivy and switching to a frameless pack. Given the bugs in New England and the cold temps in the mountains year round, I'm pretty attached to having a tent.” 8:52:24 AM 6/07/02 “heh, I used to be in the lightweight catagory but the more passengers I aquire the heavier my pack gets. sad sad sad...” 11:24:18 AM 6/07/02 I'm getting lighter “My pack for the weekend is 31 lbs. 18.375 lb base weight 1.5 lb food 11 lb water (heard the water was a trickle up there, if its even going) SnowDude is carrying the tent (2.13 lb) and tyvek (7 oz) and we're leaving the water filter behind.” 4:09:00 PM 6/07/02 “Hmmm, after the weight of my last pack, I probably should not post on this thread.” 4:30:00 PM 6/07/02 “should we log on the the UL site and do penance?” 4:41:32 PM 6/07/02
