My SD Orion weighs in at 4'11", 33 sq. ft., FS.

I could stand to lose a pound or two, but 20 sq. ft. is a little cramped, isn't it?

TNF "SlickRock" 4.5 lbs (3 season), Mountain Hardware "Night Shade" 6.8 lbs with 20 aluminum stakes (4 season convertable), one never know when the west wind will blow.

When hiking with friends which weighs more: all the individual tents or one large tent?

It may be less of a total load for the group for one person to carry a large tent than everyone carrying a single.

Of course, it you can't stand the snoring or smell the extra weight is worth it.

Mine's way too heavy
My Eureka Timberline Outfitter is great for what it is. But, dant, it's heavy. 12 pounds or so for tent, fly, & vestibule.

Arriving Monday to ME: Hennessy Hammock Safari Ultralite, 2.5 pounds!

Budda,
Loose the Walrus Trekker Tarp and pick up a 12x12 Kelty or 10x12 sil tarp. My 12x12 is 144 sq.ft. of coverage. Good for sleeping and cooking and gettin' out of the rain. (Only 1 lb. 15 oz.)

Hmmmmm...What To Do...What To Do
Yeah Mr.budda...spend another $60-$90 to loose a few more pounds off your back. With your size and weight you could stand to loose a couple'a pounds...OR save your money and loose a few pounds off yer belly...OR maybe, just maybe, with your size and stature, a few pounds is negligable.

I was thinking maybe you need the extra space.
