I had to come up with a sales speach to sell a product or service.

The problem was that if someone wanted to buy it and had the money. you had to sell it for real to get a passing grade.

so here is what i came up with

For $25

I would take one person and their date out on a day hike(something simple) and pack in a a fancy picnic lunch for them. all for $25

on that I made about $75 with more people bringing in cash.

and I wasn't done i offered to guige up to 5 people on a 4 day hike( again something simple but not to simple) for $50 a day covering food and permits as long as they provide their own gear.

well some one wrote a check for 200 dolors (some rich kid) and told me as his guid i have to take him to REI so he can purchase all his gear.

and 2 more rich kids are bringing cash tommarow.

what about that i take rich kids out for a short 4 day hike hike
and fall a$$ back in cash.

Could be a good career move! I've dreamed about doing it here in NM. Maybe a second career.

Might want to check out this book, too.

Remember...to go out of your way for them, since there is really no overhead..you are the product. Make it memorable and they'll tell their friends and come back themselves for more. Just leave the iron skillet at home..lol

I'm sorta in trouble now i made over $600 but the problem is some of the parents are not to happy they wanna see my license to guide when I told them i had none to show
they threatened to sue i just got a call from a laywer from one of the rich kids moms

i refunded $250 so i am down to 2 rich kids and 7 day hike picnicks.

but i still could face a law suit. I will know tommarow

who would think a simple speech would cause so much grief.

Is licensing for wilderness guides required in California? Perhaps you should check out the regulations on this. Don't assume you are sunk just because someone threatened to sue. Find out your facts so that you can be confident when dealing with clients and especially their parents. Some people just like to bully others.

I am not sure about this but I think that commercial guides (meaning anyone getting money to do so) must be licensed and insured to guide on public lands everywhere. In some national parks only certain approved guide companies are even allowed to guide.

Pop, you got your grade. Refund all the cash and walk away or find out what you have to do to get legit.

Didn't we discuss you being a guide before? You are doing the same thing only now with people you don't know for cash, a MUCH worse idea. You friends will just be pissed if it goes bad but there are always legal problems when money and strangers are involved.

I'm at a loss that someone would bust out the lawyer for something that would only be in small claims court. Protect yourself from the vultures.

Go hiking with your buddies for free.

it sounded like a cool idea, but I think the mule said it.

Wait until you have more experience to try this. Then, save up some moolah and get some insurance before venturing out there with strangers. They will be completely your responsibility! Think about it...

Aren't you the guy who has never even done more than a couple of days on the trail? I wouldn't feel prepared in your shoes.

Where is the wise mel these days? She would be a great mentor for you...

I hope you still get a good grade!! :o)

*rolling around laughing*..who didn't see this one coming...those pple threatening the suit prob did some research and read some of your TT post...real incrimminating there..LMAO. Dude..refund all the money..and run away. All else fails you made a presentation and was approached by the payors. If you still want to go and need a way to "justify" the money, these are your "friends" and the money is for use of SOME of your gear, and food...but i'd run away..cause you look like your in a hole..why don't you just go hiking more alone and rack up exp points...and forget about allll these guiding trips with 6-8 pple...shesh dude..go out there to hear yourself and not the endless chatter of others.

you see I refunded most of the cash but a few parents are down with the idea. so if i wanna pass the class and graduate then i have to go through with it. the parents that were angry are gone now. i am clear so i am keeping this one out of the books? so there it is i refunded all the over nighters but still have to do the picknic service. just to get the passing grade.

boy how do i get myself into these problems?

i should of just sold cookies.

and it was just a speech i wasnt going for a carreer!
