The North Face Exocet for only $60 is good deal and at 2100 cubic inches at 2lbs 6 oz its a great pack for lightweight backpacking.

Word up
Sierra Trading Post often sells seconds. Not all of the stuff is crap, but some of it will fall apart. Keep your receipts. They will take stuff back. I guess this is good advice for every retail purchase, but I have gotten some duds from STP.

STP generally will say that the gear is seconds or overstock fabric or last years model, minor flaws etc. You just have to read the description. They have excellant customer service and pretty fast delivery too.

Will STP take it back after 9 mo? The top of my Mtnsmith Chimera is ripped on both sides. I don't know if I have my receipt, but I got it online.

I seriously thought about buying that tent. Would you believe that thing weights about 4.5 lbs??

I Know...But It'd Be Cool To Have
I have a hard time believing it can sleep 4...let alone 3 comfortably.

You have to ditch the center pole and suspend it from a tree or cross-line to fit that many in it.

STP sells seconds for sure for some items. I bought a pair of Pearl Izumi windstopper gloves off them years ago and the windstopper membrane was not in the gloves so they didn't stop wind at all. I guess you've got to read the details on what you buy.

I got a great deal on a Sierra Designs, Stretch Dome, 3 person, 4 season tent a couple of years ago. Nothing second or imperfect about it.
