Unless you like the snow, head north to the ocean, Lost Coast Trail, Pt Reyes, etc. If you like snow, head east out Rte 50 or I80, about 45 minutes to 1 hour from Sac you'll be in the mtn's in 4 or 5 ft.!

If you want company, contact ME!!! I sneak away whenever I can, sometimes very short notice works out better than long-term planning....

i was thinking of the lost coast trail i have 4 days coming in may and a 3 day weekend in febuary.

Hows the desert this time of year? wild flowers should be plentiful.

Not an expert on the desert, track down some of the Southern CA folks... from what little I know this is the best time to go there however...

Yeah. Also read the Monkey Wrench Gang by Abbey if you haven't already.

If you just wanna camp in a nice car camping spot, check outManchester State beach and do day hikes.

If you want to tent camp and hike around, the state parks up around Mendocino/Fort Bragg are nice. Looks like bad weather in N. CA though.

I chose it for better pot stability and better stove stability and it has a longer burn time on max fuel.
