If a friend called and said as soon as you were ready, he'd pick you up for an overnighter, how long would it take you to get all your gear together and walk out the door?

I used to think it would take me 30 minutes to have my bag packed until it happened once and an hour and a half later, I was ready. It seemed some of my gear had gradually gotten misplaced.

Just cleaned out the garage and reorganized my stuff so a half hour might be possible again.

When I was single ...my pack was packed and ready to go at all times, except for stuffing the sleeping bag and rolling the therma-rest.

Wives don't really dig a loaded pack laying around in the middle of the living room. My bike stays in the garage now, too.

30-45 minutes. Its packed in a plastic box. Just have to put it in the pack. Takes a little time to get the food together, tho.

like snow nymph, mine is all in one rubbermaid container. i have winter gear in another one, so it's easy, either way.

I got a walk in closet. My packs are hanging on the wall and my gear is sitting on shelves. I could be ready in about 40 mins. Getting food together would take most of the time.

Mine is in my office closet and, similar to mediaman - it behooves me to keep it out of site. I like the rubbermaid bin idea.

About an hour. All the stuff's together, it just needs to transfer locations.

An over nighter? 30 mins tops. Add another half hour if I've gotta pack for the SO and the dog.

about half an hour for an overnighter-pick clothing, scrounge food from the cupboard, fill water bottles and stuff sleeping bag.

15 minutes to several foothills trailheads.

Same as snow, 30 - 40 minutes. Gear is in a trunk in the family room. Most of the usual stuff stays in the pack. Longest time is spent deciding what food to take. "Let's see, Couscous or Ramen. No maybe some rice. Ah hell where's the Mountain House."
