I won $25 for the 1st quarter. It was downhill after that (LOL, I really don't care about football, but I always like to see an underdog win).

what a great football game. I had no druthers going in but like you said IT it was fateful for Patriots to win. Just one good all around great ball game.

Great game - a nail-biter right down to the end. I knew this was the Patsies year. Gutsy play the last minute and a half. Look for a lifetime contract for Vinitieri.

Great game!

much better than the previous one-sided super bowls.

Now if the NFL would only get rid of that silly only-domes-or-warm-cities rule and play the game where it would be a REAL SUPER BOWL (like Green Bay or Buffalo in January) then all the games would be great games.

Playing in a dome makes it the Sissy Bowl.

WoooHooo!!! There is much hooopin' and hollerin' anmd honkin' out in the streets of my fine town!!!

I had a small bet on the game... I took the Pats with no points!!!!

I'd like to say this was supreme confidence on my part, but - to be honest - it was a bet with an old flame (an ex-girl friend who lives in St. Louis). The point spread was ridiculously big and I just couldn't bring myself to insist on gettin the points.

I wonder what Georgia is doing right now? I didn't see her interviewed after the game.

God's Special Plan
for the Rams was a large slice of humble pie!

Although after the flood of patriotic speeches post-game is sure to make conspiracy geeks wonder about a team that kept beating better teams.

Hmmmmm.... Toejam. If the Patriots kept beating them, how do we know those other teams were better?

Ain't it just possible that the Patriots kept getting better as the season went along?

Isn't the ability to consistently make fewer mistakes than your opponents, to force errors and capatilize on them consistently, an important part of being a good team. In fact, I might say that it is evidence of being a better team than a lot of teams that had better players.

"The fix was in!" was the first thing I heard on the radio this morning.

I'm with you, it was a clear victory and a great game, just like the game against the Raiders, just like the game against the Steelers. The Patsie's defense was way underrated going into the playoffs. A bunch of Vegas football geniuses are wishing they could have a do-over on those odds.

the Rams hurt themselves with turnovers...The Pats only scored 3 points off of non-turnover possesions...Not taking anything away from the Pats...but had both teams played 10 times the Rams would win 7-8 out of em...O well that is what makes the Super Bowl such a great event.......

if you wanna take away turnovers the Rams wouldn't have been in the Superbowl, they only scored 10 offensive points against GreenBay. Stop your whinning... the Patriots have played solid team football all season long. The Rams have been overhyped, their schedule wasn't all that tough while 3 AFC East teams made the playoffs
donman

of course we could argue forever about what would happen with a ten game Rams-Pats series... but consider:

When they played during the season, the Pats came within one fumble of beating the Rams.

The Pats kept getting better.

The Pats would continue getting better in that 10 game series.

The only solid evidence we have is what actually happened and the Rams did not win... (and if we are going to get hypothetical, without the penalty against Willie McG. the game wouldn't have even been close.)

I just wanna know...when are they going to play the last two seconds of the game?

Clearly, two seconds were left on the clock, and games HAVE been won on kickoff returns...

Donman---You don't know what the fark your talking about...Quote"The Rams have been overhyped, their schedule wasn't all that tough while 3 AFC East teams made the playoffs"

True..Those teams were the Jets,Pats, and Dolphins...all teams that the Rams kicked the crap out of during the season...The rams played a very tough schedule...do your homework pal... It doesn't really matter..you just wait till next season and see who's back in the big game and who isn't...This is just proof that on any given Sunday any team can win... A combination of hard work, luck...and Warner's jacked thumb brought the Pats the Championship

Fritz: Maybe the game was a fix...hmmmmmmmm maybe Solitary Hiker can come up with some sort of conspiracy theory for us...

Hey Pedxing...I was just reading this article by theisman
http://espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs01/columns/theismann_joe/1322325.html

He also says something about the 10 games scenario...I guess great football minds think a like....

Uh... regarding that Willie McGinnest penalty. Did anybody notice that Marshal Faulk had him beat, he couldn't turn around and pursue fast enough. Marshal would have been all alone in that corner of the endzone. Better a penalty than a touchdown. Warner was going to toss it to him. Co-incidently a fumble was caused and returned. If Marshal got by him, we wouldn't even be talking about this.

But hey, that was a great fumble return though, eh?

UK: It wasn't entirely clear to me what would have happened without that McGinnest hold. I was playing the I was playing the "hypopathetical" game. Saying that there would have been a TD pass to Faulk without the hold by McGinnest does look like the best counter move in the hypopathetical game.

What I was really trying to do is say that we could play the game out hypopathetically forever. The best available evidence is what actually happened.

I can't respect Theisman's hypothetical as analysis. I can respect it as entertainment... a way of making a story even more colorful.

When he says "Looking back at the first Rams-Patriots meeting on Nov. 18, Antowain Smith fumbled on the Rams' 3 and Tom Brady threw an interception in Rams' territory," he is acknowledging that it would be just as easy to say the Rams' victory over the Pats during the season happened because of turnovers.

Comments by Martz and Warner after the game showed a lot of class. I already resprected them, but my respect for them has grown.

WSDavies, the half of the Rams schedule was against sub 500 teams. That's pretty weak for a team that has been considered so good. Their division is weak, with only 2 teams above 500. The Rams won the game against the pats by a turnover, Gee I guess the Pats beat themselves in that one. Jacked thumb??? Jack Youngblood played with a broken leg!

So your saying Joe Theisman doesn't know football? If he doesn't then who does? I just found it curious that he said the same thing I did independantly of each other...The Rams played 3 games this year where they turned the ball over...they lost those 3 games...AT anyrate, it was good for you libs in New England(Except for New Hampshire) and it was good for football.
