A most excellent book! Spartans were bad to the bone. Why this book is not a movie, I do not know.” 8:10:23 PM 2/23/06 “A STATA manual.” 10:44:31 PM 2/23/06 “March to the Sea - david Webber and John Ringo” 11:11:20 PM 2/23/06 “lotr- return of the king” 4:53:45 AM 2/24/06 Marley & Me “Yesterday morning, I read a blurb online about a book that is moving up the best-seller list. I went to Barnes & Noble to look it over and before I knew it I was 70 pages into it, laughing my arse off while folks looked at me strangely. It's about a labrador, the world's worst dog, and it's life. If you have/had a lab or any dog, you will thoroughly love it. I just finished it this evening and it left me all teary eyed. One of the best books I've read in quite awhile. http://www.marleyandme.com/excerpt.html” 10:19:39 PM 2/27/06 “I just re-read "The Afterlife Experiments" by Gary Schwartz, PhD. I'm very intrigued by the relationship between science & beliefs, or, the interrealationships between Quantum Physics, Religeon, Spirituology, etc. WOW, now THERE's a thread!” 10:26:36 PM 2/27/06 “That is interesting! Dhutch and I were talking about sort of the same thing at the Field museum this weekend. There was a little cap made of hair that a South Pacific tribe believed made them invisible and silent when approaching enemy's camps. I bet if they believed in it enough they were silent and invisible.” 10:32:08 PM 2/27/06 “I'm reading The Best of Roald Dahl...a collection of short stories. It's so good! The kind of book you start reading, and the next time you look up, 5 hours have gone by. LOL! Well maybe not 5 but close.” 12:50:56 PM 2/28/06 “I love him. My favorite is BFD (?) I don't know, it's some assortent of letters. I read many many kids books while working for the school system. His books were always tops on my list.” 12:55:37 PM 2/28/06 “Yeah I remembered him from when I read his kids books back in the day, and I didn't know he even wrote for adults until I saw that book in the library. I'm on a short-stories kick now...before this was a collection by Helen Dunmore, also fabulous. Before that was a collection by Stephen King, massive suckage. I hadn't read him since like high school, I don't think...I never realized how bad his writing was before! last edited: 2/28/06 1:02:59 PM” 12:58:29 PM 2/28/06 “How about Ray Bradbury? I used to have a few books of his shorts and some dork borrowed them and never returned 'em.” 1:09:40 PM 2/28/06 “Oh that's a good idea!! I've seen the shows of course, but I don't think I've ever read them...maybe a few here and there in English classes.” 1:14:45 PM 2/28/06 “I'm rereading "Koi Health and Disease." One of our fish has something that's rare but 90% fatal. Great. It's HPM's favorite fish.” 2:11:33 PM 2/28/06 “Open Horizons by Sigurd Olson. I love the Roald Dahl books, too!” 2:20:09 PM 2/28/06 “Right now I'm about halfway through In The Shadow Of The Mountain by Maria Coffee. It's a decent read, a bit hard to follow at times as she skips around quite a bit. Essentially it's about the mountaineering widows, widowers, and their families. High risk adventure lifestyles leave people behind at times, and this is her take on it after losing two mountaineers that were close to her. Only being halfway through this book, I haven't yet decided if it gets the two thumbs up rating yet or not. Ordin” 3:40:12 PM 2/28/06 “I just finished reading Marley and Me as well. It's a wonderful book.” 6:14:22 AM 3/01/06 “Cook books!” 7:32:12 AM 3/01/06 “Ive got a few more chapters left to go of-The Way Out,by Craig Childs. I cant believe Ive read this far!! Its the biggest pile of dookie Ive ever read!!!!” 9:55:29 AM 3/01/06 “I was on a John Ringo kick. read most of his stuff, including the "March Upcountry" colaboration with David Weber. Now I am reading the Honor Harrington series, but took a break to read "Starship: Mutiny" by Mike Resnick. pretty good if a fairly simplistic. Now I am reading the 3rd book in the Coyote series by Allen M. Steele, "Coyote Frontier". (A novel of interstellar colonization).” 2:14:17 PM 5/12/06 “I am about to re-start-over the "gunslinger" series by Stephen King. Very cool, and very different from what he is famous for.” 2:17:13 PM 5/12/06 “Just finished reading "To Fight With Intrepidity...the complete history of the us army rangers 1622 to present" By Major John D Lock. Currently a boring trade related text book. *edited for awful spelling last edited: 5/12/06 2:38:58 PM” 2:38:11 PM 5/12/06 “i loved the gunslinger. the rest of the dark tower wasnt as good” 2:48:06 PM 5/12/06 “Getting ready to re-read some Kerouac novels. TRISTESSA and BIG SUR are at the top of the list. I've read them before, but only once. I like to go back and re-read a few authors. Kerouac is one I don't mind revisiting.” 3:58:41 PM 5/12/06 “Right in the middle of the Davinci Code. So far it's awesome. All the hype about boycotts is really funny. I'll bet book sales have been skyrocketing lately because of it. Way to go vatican!!!” 4:12:37 PM 5/12/06 “I'm reading John Stossel's Myths, Lies, and Downright Stupidity. Great reading. I love when sacred cow topics get killed. Such topics covered are, women are BETTER drivers than men, DDT is good and saves lives, we are NOT drowning in garbage, the world is NOT overpopulated, public schools DO have enough money, and there is NO cancer epidemic.” 7:05:21 AM 6/27/06 “I'm on a movie kick. Just read DaVinci Code, cause everyone told me the movie sucked and the book was good. Next I'm reading The Devil Wears Prada.” 8:51:45 AM 6/27/06 “Wicked. Darn good book.” 9:17:14 AM 6/27/06 “Angels and Demons, which is the book just before the Code with the same main character was even more fast paced than the Code was.” 9:23:41 AM 6/27/06 “for some reason i've been on a fatherhood book kick lately i'm gonna pick up one of Shmuley Boteach's books and Tim Russert's new book Wisdom of Our Fathers.” 9:24:51 AM 6/27/06 “I read Wicked too, Sass! It was really good...and I read the one based on Snow White too, whatever it was called. I liked that even better! That dude is one smart cookie. Right now I'm reading Seven Years in Tibet.” 9:25:53 AM 6/27/06 “I am reading Earl Shaffer's book Walking with Spring.” 9:30:08 AM 6/27/06 “yo princess K, how's 7 yrs?” 9:35:56 AM 6/27/06 “I just picked up "Raising The Bar. The Story of Clif Bar Inc." Free from Whole Foods.” 9:38:31 AM 6/27/06 “Yo yo yo homeslice, it's da bomb! Haha...it's very good so far. Bearmagnet, you are a dork!!” 9:41:23 AM 6/27/06 “gimme a full review when you finish it, K?” 9:47:05 AM 6/27/06 “His Excellency: George Washington Great book about... well... George Washington. Highly recommend it. Before that I read Team of Rivals : The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln It was about... well... Abraham Lincoln. I don't know why I am on the presidents kick. Now that I look back I read The River of Doubt: Theodore Roosevelt's Darkest Journey (GREAT book) I get in these modes where I'll start down one type of book and then read anything I can get my hands on before, for no apparent reason, I'll switch to something else. I do a lot of Audiobooks as filler, esp on my long runs and all the drive time I have with my job. The topics for these are all over the place. last edited: 6/27/06 9:48:09 AM” 9:47:47 AM 6/27/06 “Ten-four, good buddy.” 9:50:42 AM 6/27/06 “Lyra and Sass....I've read about 3/4 of Wicked, and I cant seem to pick it back up. Is the ending worth reading? I've been pretty bored with the rest.” 9:53:09 AM 6/27/06 “Actually I kinda petered out on the ending, too...I had to stop reading it for a week, and then by the time I could finish it, I'd forgotten who half the characters were, d'oh. Any books with "weird" names sort of lose me. You should try Mirror, Mirror - the Snow White one. It's fantabulous.” 9:56:51 AM 6/27/06 “I'm sorry. I grow weary of reading Penthouse Forum, waiting to see if they'll publish any of my stories. 'Gary Erickson realizes that businesses have tremendous power to harm or protect the natural world, our common home. I applaud the efforts of Gary and Clif Bar to develop a business practice that promotes an ethic of global responsibility.' -Mikhail S. Gorbachev, chairman, Green Cross International 'Gary Erickson's story is sheer inspiration. Reading it makes you want to ride a bike up a high mountain, dust off your musical instrument and join a jazz band, or launch an outrageous company. This is a Life manual masquerading as a business book.' -David Batstone, author, "Saving The Corporate Soul" 'This is a beautiful book about courage, commitment, integrity, and vision. It is also a story that reminds us that one person does make a difference by leading the way through the inspiration of the heart.' -Julioa Butterfly Hill, author, The Legacy of Luna.” 9:58:44 AM 6/27/06 “LOL@bearmagnet” 10:07:25 AM 6/27/06 “I am working on two books. Angels & Deamons and a compendium of scientific lectures and papers titled "Listen to the Earth".” 10:08:42 AM 6/27/06 10:14:35 AM 6/27/06 “American West, by Dee Brown inland American West during the last half of the 19th century as the railroads opened up the area to settlers, the Plains Indians made their final stand and cattle ranches spread from Texas to Montana.” 10:18:50 AM 6/27/06 “The Kite Runner” 3:25:55 AM 6/29/06 “"the broker", john grisham” 7:14:55 AM 6/29/06 “Ever read The Painted House by Grisham?” 7:16:14 AM 6/29/06 “Lincoln's Sacred Effort by Lucas Morel. Excellent book on Lincoln's views on the purpose of religion.” 7:20:22 AM 6/29/06 “1776 - David Mccullough” 7:21:04 AM 6/29/06 “Thank You For Smoking Christopher Buckley” 7:24:47 AM 6/29/06 Jump to Page << prev
