Graska, how was "The Soldiers of Poverty"? Was it easy to read (flow wise) and interesting or dry?

The Conscience Reader
It's a 1975 edition of one of my college copmosition classes books. I loaned my '90 edition to a girlfriend, never to see it again. I saw this one on a sale table at the library - had to have it.

Also an anthology of American short fiction - same sale.

The Disorganized Mind

Because some authors actually write a book worth reading.

I finished the last two fiction books in my library, Louis L'Amour. I'm bored now. If I had extra money I'd be at a book store right now. Forget the library; I ALWAYS forget to return the books and I end up paying fines that would have bought several books. The last book I had to pay for, $175. I only buy them now.

Pamela, go to yard sales by books by the box load for 10 cent to a quarter each. Kull out the books you might want to read. Take the remainder to a used book store and trade them for credit. The one in my town gives me 20% of the retail price as credit and sells used books for 50% of the retail price. So basically for every 5 books I trade I get to pick 2 books off the shelves.

I just picked up "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy. I havent even cracked it open yet. Gimme a few days, and it'll be done.

Pamela, when I run out of new stuff in the library, I just pick-up one that I know I liked last time I read it, and read it again.

Meangreen - I read that a few years ago on loan from Dunadan. I enjoyed it. There is a memorable, that's not a knife, this is a knife Crocodile Dundee scene in the book. Enjoy.

I'm reading Crusade in Europe, DD Eisenhower. Pretty good so far.

Next up will be Bourne Identity, Ludlum.

Bourne Identity I read 25 years ago, then again last year. It was still good the 2nd time, but the mystery of the first reading made it one of my all time favorite reads.

You know, I tried reading the Silmarillion, but just couldn't get into it. It was like trying to read the book of Genessis. bill begat bob, who begat john, who begat joe.... holy cow!
Tolkien was amazing in the vividness of his fantastic world, but some of it is more than I can keep up with.
