Twilight Zone Rules
Where there is one last surviving man on earth, who always wanted to have time to read all the great books. and as he is stacking up his books, he drops his glasses and steps on them. He can;t see a thing without his glasses and he is now virtually blind, with all the time in the world to read.

I love William Shatner and the "thing" on the plane wing. CLASSIC!!! And you can't beat Shatner for his patented overacting!!

Shatner is always good for hamming it up. You ever heard his version of 'Mr Tambourine Man"? I guess if I HAD to pick a favorite, it would be the one where Art Carney plays a bum as Santa Claus. You don't see that one often on reruns.

Nightmare
My most memorable child nightmare was spawned by an episode of the TZ. I woke to find my ventriloquist dummy in bed with me, I sat up and he sat up like me, my eyes starred in to his and I tried to scream but couldn't, nothing came out and he was mocking me by opening his mouth like he was trying to scream too. I was so shaken from that dream and I'll never forget that night.

The beginning is filmed in the Joshua Tree forest. What a weird place.

I could never pick just one. There is a book out there that recounts the history of the show, season by season behind the camera and in front, and has a synopsis of every episode with cast list. I read it a fair number of years ago and it was so cool to read about an episode and have it all come flooding back in my memory. Lots of stars, such as Shatner, got an early gig on that show.

There was one with this criminal who was able to jump into famous paintings at the art gallery to avoid the cops. Seems he made the mistake of jumping into a painting of the crucifixion. Oops! Ouch!~

frim - that was Night Gallery. They used to have three episodes in one show. That one had the painting one and the one that still freaks the hell outta me when I think of it. It's the one where a guy gets his uncles place and there is a panting of the mansion with the graveyard hanging on the wall. A bad storm comes in and he freaks cuz everytime the linghting flashes, you see the uncle comes outta the graveyard back to the house. Finally, as you see the uncle get on to the porch, the dude hears a knocking on the front door!!

Man, can't do it here, but that one gives me the shivers!

The Shatner one is definitely a classic. I like the John Lithgow version in 'Twilight Zone the Movie' (wanna see something really scary). But.

My favorite episode is the one with Telly Savalas as the mean dad who hates his little girl's talking doll. Eventually the doll tells Telly she's going to kill him and by the end of the show he's dead. I saw this when I was about 11 and it didn't scare me but made me laugh. Can't wait to see the Talking Tina episode again.

I don't know if I could ever possibly narrow this down to under 40 of them, but this is definitely up there. "The Obsolete Man" with Burgess Meredith...

no, no..... the early William Shatner, freaking out cuz he's off his medication....but my OH MY, what is that strange thing lurking outside his jet window??!?

A great typically overplayed bit of acting by Shatner. A hint of things to come... :-)

Shatner was also on an episode where he was getting "fortunes" out of a machine, and couldn't leave. Creepy.

Yeah, yeah, lizs. That was a good one! Although it's been so long since I've seen that one I only see Lithgow in that role anymore.

I also liked the one with 'Talky Tina'. The doll that had one of those pull strings that made it say things like 'I love you' and crap like that. Telly Savalas played a mean dad who hated the doll. Talky Tina eventually told Teely 'I'm going to kill you' and then did. Absurd and a little creepy at the same time.

I don't think I ever saw that one. What was the title? Was it the one that played at 7 AM EST?

Here's something else cool... I caught part of this a couple of years ago:

"Rod Serling: Submitted For Your Approval"

... from the American Masters series on PBS. You can enter your zip code and find out if they'll be replaying it in your neighborhood anytime soon.

Okay, I gotcha.

At noon.... "Night of the Meek"(?)

That sounds much more likely than "The Thirty Fathom Grave" LOL I thought you might've seen the Art Carney episode come on at 7 this morning, and then posted.... but that title sounded more like a shipwreck than Santa Claus.

Mickey Rooney's been married 10 or 12 times now, hasn't he? <G>
