My personal favorite is when he states in his book that if you adjust your mindset appropriately (like the Indians), you can change your body chemistry and mosquitos will bite you less frequently.

Pretty tough to believe that one.

However,if you can get past the new age ca-ca, he does consolidate some pretty good tips.

How about....If you get in touch with your inner energy you will notice more animals on the trail and they will be less likely to run away..huh

It's pretty much always been around. I have an old Backpacker Mag hardback compendium with an article from the early 70’s about lightweight backpacking. The first time I got interested was from an article in Backpacker Mag in 93 (I believe this was even before The PCT Handbook went big) about how to cut weight and go light. Granted, they never took it to the level Ray did. 8)

Have you seen some of the new Kelty lightweight stuff? Looks like good stuff.
