How my brain works.
The comments about practicing squatting in the "How you know you are a backpacker" thread, made me think of an sign I saw in the Philippines, that made me think of odd signs, that made me think of this one.

Hey Pathman, what are you thinking? Does Pennsy's outfit sound good? Dang!! I'm debating........

So Pennsy, don't count me out here, yet. (Is Pathman breathing down my neck yet?? lol)

How's the baby?? CONGRATS!!

LOL Pathman! That's when I do an about face.

Lizs - You better hope Pathman isn't breathing down your neck, considering his line of work. ;-)

The 'baby' is resting. His father is restless. Refreshing the new battery 3 times (30+ hours) is killing me. How many times will I have the manual read before I get to shoot the darn thing? LOL!

Pennsy, OK, I may kick myself later (yeah,probably).... but I'm bowing out. You're offering a great deal!! Hmmmmm, but I just starting looking at reviews. Everyone -- everywhere it seems -- is giving the Canon G2 great reviews. It's around $700 (like I have the money ANYWAY!!! LOL, that is the big joke)

Anyway, thanks so much for the consideration, sir...... errrrr, DADDY!!! lol

No problem Lizs. I'm sure you'll take great pics no matter what you use, even if you do go to a C..... (as a Nikon devotee, I am allowed to say Canon - woops!!).

Btw - who has money anyway? I just have a very high credit limit. ;o)

Ok Pathman, the ball's in your hand. :-)

I like the sound of the package, and the coolpix is very popular with some very picky photographers I know. I need to work on my wife.

Pennsy, if you are under time pressure go ahead, get the best deal you can. If you aren't in a hurry, I'll think about it for a couple of days. Sure would be nice for our trip in June.

Pathman - I am not under any time pressure. I'll still be broke whether I sell it today or next month. I relate it an ocean liner throwing a deck chair overboard to save weight. ;o)

Anywho, just let me know when you make your decision.

Snow Nymph - I'm at work without my regular email access so I'll drop you the details tonight.

Nikon Coolpix 5000
Wow..... just read this review and I can't believe that Nikon just keeps on doing it, better and better every time. This is an amazing camera.

I LOVE my ELPH Freedom. It's usually SOMEWHERE with me when I travel. Seldom as an only camera, but last month in Mazatlan I did force myself to leave the Nikon home and just took the ELPH. (It's a film version, not digital). I hope you enjoy yours a ton. Many happy snaps. Oh, and don't forget to share the results.

I've been once. It was a cold day and it was FREEZING up there...when we got down, we bought hot chocolate at the little concession stand. Its a pretty cool place. Aren't they replacing the tower???

Looks like I am getting a Nikon Coolpix 990 attached to a used microscope. Has anybody used one? Comments?

So how do you use it Pathman?

I use the microscope to look at sections of pathology specimens, and use the camera to take photos through the scope for patient care conferences. The camera is popular for this use, I was wondering if any had used if for general photography. It got good reviews when it came out in 2000 or so. I'll find out next week when it arrives.
