Anyone else listen to this guy when on the trail?
Last summer on the PCT I tuned into Art Bell while camped at High Immigrant Lk. I got him in on 6 different AM stations. Of course his show freaked the hell out of me, but listening to Art Bell while watching shooting stars, and satalites whizz by, sure was an experience in it's own.

Art Bell
Thinair, I sometimes listen to his show while soloing the backcountry. Do you mean the High Emigrant Lk in Emigrant W'nss? If so, take another look at your topos, it's less then 10K.

I listen to the wind, the quiet, the ice moaning from frozen lakes, the aspen leaves fluttering, frogs croaking, birds chirping, the water flowing in the streams.......

ok, now I'm outta here.

Art Bell at 10,000 ft.
Dunk, I realized the inconsistancy after I typed it. We left the PCT at Bond Pass and than joined up with it again before Sonora Pass. We did have to hike over some Mtn. that was right by High Emigrant lk. I think it was between 11k and 12K.

so sorry.

I've listened to Art Bell since 1994. It is a paridigm shifting experience, more so in the past than now.

But not on the trail. I don't bring a radio.

My little radio weighs only 1 oz and helps me when climbing passes. I also like to see what stations I can pull in when I'm at high altitude.

At high elevation you could probably pull in WLS Chicago from California.
