Pre-trip stressView Messages“Stress? No way! I'm going out into the woods! Everything gets packed in the pack except food, clothes and water (set aside) which get added at the trailhead.” 10:41:04 AM 2/05/02 “Okay, I admit it, my bag almost rolled down a mountain. But M.Silver caught it. Now my stuff sack has a rope attaching it to my pack. I had taken it out of my pack at lunch to hang it up to dry better (it rained that morning). I also admit that I spent a good part of this morning making camp coffee (in between chores and day trading). It certainly comes out stronger than anything else I tried.” 10:46:28 AM 2/05/02 “$100.00 Bunyip? My freaking Sierra Design winter bag costed +$300.00 Canadian...if I lost that sucker, I would cry!!! Anyway, it's in it's stuff sack (pretty durable) and I make sure the straps and tied down. And if I go bushwacking for awhile, I remove it and strap it to the back of the pack...less chance of it being snagged. Very good idea Splash, I'll tie the stuff sack to my pack in the future. BTW, my 45lb pack usually includes 2 days water and a litre of OJ.” 3:56:28 PM 2/05/02 “TWO DAY WORTH OF WATER!!???!!!??? Are you hiking in the desert? Buy a water filter and only carry enough water to last you a till the next creek or so. I only carry about 2 quarts at the most at any time. I ain't gonna comment on the OJ. That sounds like something you really must dig so I won't bash ya about that.” 8:31:52 PM 2/05/02 “i come home from backpacking and dump out my pack in the corner of my office. on thursday, i pack it all right back in and hit the trail. i never spend more than 20 minutes and never use a list.” 9:18:25 PM 2/05/02 “But you only carry about 3 items in your pack Rad. Bag Bivy & booze” 9:24:26 PM 2/05/02 “Stanlee, you carry the OJ in the summer? If you do, how do you keep it from spoiling?” 9:31:23 PM 2/05/02 “damned straight, duder.” 9:31:54 PM 2/05/02 “I've got a water purifier and iodine pills in my pack. I'm too spoiled..I would rather drink tap water than creek water, but now I'm starting to plan on longer trips...which means I won't carry all that water, I'll have to take it from lakes or wherever. Scullcap, I always take those type of OJ where you don't have to refrigerate it until you open it. Besides that, I always put it in the fridge to cool it down before I take it with me. Usually, I finish it in the first day. Yep, those liquids are heavy.” 9:51:15 PM 2/05/02
