Should have been Trans-Sierra Trip “I guess I'd never win a spelling or typing contest. Has anyone done a trans-sierra trip? If so, where did you start and where did you end? I'd really like to do this, but it seems like setting up transportation would be hard to do. Anyone else interested?” 4:48:18 PM 2/04/02 “By Trans-Sierra you mean crossing the Sierra's east/west?? If so, the High Sierra Trail is your ticket...It starts at Crescent Meadow in Sequoia and terminates at the Whitney Portals...a great hike, which is around seventy miles...We finished it last summer in about 5 days.......” 6:30:03 PM 2/04/02 If your short on time... “or want to cross the Sierra twice in one trip ...it's only 25 or so miles from Onion Valley to Cedar Grove. The High Sierra Trail is definetly on my to do list!” 8:30:05 PM 2/04/02 “You can do it in one day if you leave from Edison Lake on the West side than follow a trail over to the other. I'm not sure what the other point is on the eastern side, my father leads a Sierra Club hike anualy. They usually go in two groups that cross from opposit sides so that there is a car waiting at the trail head for them. They also rendevu for lunch in the middle.” 9:32:32 PM 2/04/02 “Talk to Tehipite. He once led a Sierra Club trip and managed to have friends have trip at same time. They started on opp. sides, exchanged car keys when they met, I believe........” 10:21:44 PM 2/04/02 “A few years ago I drove two friends to Cedar Grove and backpacked in with them (Deer Creek?) and the next weekend met them at Dusy Basin and drove them home. I got two weekenders in that way, and they got their trans-sierra hike in.” 12:24:04 AM 2/05/02 “I did Bishop Ck. to Florence Lk. a long time ago. A great trip! 40+ miles. We used the "friends" taxi service. My wife dropped us off and my dad picked us up.” 8:29:52 PM 2/06/02
