How many cars have you owned in your life and what was your favorite?

I’m on my tenth (eleven if you count the one I sold before I had my license and which never ran).

I think my favorite was my 1993 Miata. Top down stylin’, not a care in the world. People think small cars are impractical but I carried some pretty big items with the top folded down. They made me sign a release before they’d help me load a new couch onto it. You should have seen the looks I got carrying a ladder home in a heavy snowstorm with the top down!

Five... #2 was a 1970 Mustang Convertible, white over red. It was 10 years old at the time and had only 30,000 miles on it (and the original spare in the trunk).

Favorite vehicle
Lets see...
before I had my license I had a 1966 Buick Special (4-door) that never made it on the road legally due to me blowing a connecting rod right through the wall of the engine and splitting the starter in half!

Then after I got my license:
198something Buick Skylark
1990 Chevy Cavalier (brand new)
1980 Jeep CJ7
1989 Suzuki GSXR 750 (motorcycle)
1993 Mitsubishi Mirage
1977 VW Beetle Convertible (triple white with factory air)
1972 VW Beetle with sunroof
1989 VW Jetta (sill have it after 200,000 miles)
1996 Dodge Neon
2001 Subaru Forester (wife drives it)
1974 Harley Davidson Sportster (still have it)

My favorite: 1977 VW Beetle Covertible! Unfortunately after owning it for less than a month some brat that just got his license ran through a stop sign doing about 40 in a 25mph zone and totalled it!

Loved the GSXR too! Got it going over 150 mph!!!!

5. 1984 Oldsmobile Cutlass (lasted two months, biggest piece of crap of all time)
6. 2000 Saturn SL (inexpensive, solid, dependable, comfortable, six cupholders... it rocks!!!!)

Being the last of 4 kids in the family, I got to drive alot of hand-me-down/kids cars, some good others great.

We had 2 powder blue Rabbits 80's (auto,4sp-manu.). Great on gas, hated the hills.

'72 Cutlass Supreme, Bronzey gold color. This was a grandparents car. It had @ 14k miles on her when picked up in '84. Older sister wrecked it. On a phone pole on what USED to be called "Deadmans Turn" Route 50. Broke the better vertebra's, and a femur, had full recover.

Had a earlier 80's Newport, ugly green color, along with a another ugly green colored Cutlass. A brother finished wrecking the Newport and the Cutlass got lost in the mix(donated).

My personal cars, '84 Monty, underpowered V6, mpg was average, the memories priceless!!!! It was donated as well.

I got a used '85 300zx turbo w/30k in the earlier '90's, put about 25k on it before a friend wrecked that car on a "test drive". He had just finished doing some work on it when he t-boned a new 4 door Benzo. Driven by a Country Club going drunk Blue hair and his wife. No serious injures, he paid, no DUI(richbastard). I was lucky enough to sit out that last test run. Third time is a charm.

Because after that I purchased a new 94 Nissian 4X4 extra cab w/some bells and whistles. And too this day its running like a top. In many cases it is a home away from home. It beats all other pervious auto's hands down except for a '81 Morgan +8 that tours the road a couple of months a year. This is a joint "work in progress" type of venture with a brother. Its heII on wheels.

I've only had three....

1987 Diesel mercury lynx (escort dressed up) ran forever on a tank of fuel and I got to act panicked whenever some old dude at the gas station would say "honey, do you know you're putting diesel in that car?" My standard responce was "OH NO! What should I do? Should I call a tow truck?"

A 1990 tempo (my dad picked it out for me and it sucked, old lady car)

1994 Ford Ranger, that truck took me on my first backpacking trips, slept in the bed numerous nights and it would go places it never should've been able to (up jeep tracks in the rockies...was a 4 banger)

1996 Taurus wagon. It's nice, comfy and is excellant for road trips and sleeping at trailheads. The back seats fold down and you're left with sleeping space roughly the size of a double bed. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat if they still made them. Am hoping they'll start producing them again before mine croaks. Should be awhile, only 50,000miles on it.

I have just come back from the dealer's. I have just bought my 5th car from him and I hope it will be my favourite - but I don't care because it's a male menopause/second childhood/empty nester purchase: a Jeep TJ. It has two tops, rigid and folding, two sets of doors, folding back seat and a big-ass CD/cassette radio with surround sound and subwoofer. I got the smallest engine with a five-speed gear box for at least reasonable mileage. Can't wait for delivery.

1980 Ford Escort. Manual. First car. This used car came w/ a fancy horn. The kind that played 144 different songs. (Including the Dukes of Hazard/General Lee ditty) I absolutely loved that part. I don't think the rest of my high school did. Or, my parents neighborhood, for that matter.

1988? Dodge Colt. Nothing to write home about.

1990? Dodge Shadow. No big deal, either. This one died while Max was dowtown (Detroit) at school. I shouldn't admit this, but... We let it sit on the side of the street for 3 months before we donated it to Mother Waddles. Guess we were kind of hoping they would tow it!

1998 Plymouth Neon. This is still around.

2001 Stratus. Company Car - Cost to me is next to nothing... So, I guess that makes it my favorite car!!!!

I didn't count my wife's cars though several of them ended up being hers before long. Who can resist big brown puppy eyes? Now, with gas around a buck, she won't give it back!
