Keep in mind that this thread is discussing marajuana and not heroin. Also, to call someone who smokes a little recreational marajuana a "doper" is the same as calling a social drinker a "drunk".” 5:53:31 PM 2/06/02 “Marijuana is that killer weed it's gonna be the end of you and me so says the US News Report Excuse me while I take a snort... (guess the title/artist anyone?)” 5:56:23 PM 2/06/02 “nonickname, do you really think it would be difficult to find evidence of a marijuana user harming someone? Smoking that sh!t has messed up your brain :-)” 6:02:46 PM 2/06/02 “Gordo, sorry about your friend but as much as his sleazoid defense attn. would like to try and reason, I very much doubt maryjane was the reason for the murder. Most likely, as with most murderers, the guy was a timebomb just waiting to explode. Did he have a prior violent criminal history? I'd be surprised if he didn't. I've never heard of anyone getting off on the defense you describe. The guy committed a murder and should be locked up and the key thrown away. That is the crime here. The unfortunate reality of the situation is that he and other violent criminals will probably have their sentence commuted so that room can be made to house people who have done nothing other than be in possession of a plant that grows in the wild and that the US govt. has deemed illegal because of a 1930s ad campaign to promote Dupont nylon. That's the fact, Jack.” 6:09:18 PM 2/06/02 “I'm..... smokin a..... fatty right....now.....OOOOOOOOOYEAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!! DON'T BE JELLUZZZ!!!” 6:10:26 PM 2/06/02 “Touche' roseymonster” 6:13:27 PM 2/06/02 “We look forward to more of your rational and intellectual posts, swinger.” 6:15:06 PM 2/06/02 “You can also find evidence of a bible totin' church goer of harming people, but that doesn't mean it was god that made them do it.” 6:15:46 PM 2/06/02 “That last post was for butpac.....I mean butpac....owell, close enough.” 6:17:09 PM 2/06/02 “Mr.subtil...You gonna sing it from the rooftops?” 6:23:44 PM 2/06/02 “Hey Bacpac, Did it Hurt? when the aliens landed and sucked all the brains out of your head.” 6:24:38 PM 2/06/02 “When they can't make a rational arguement, they turn to insults. I guess that they're proving my point, drugs are no good.” 6:44:29 PM 2/06/02 “If anyone needs a chemical to relax or recreate then they have more problems than can be addressed here. Was marijuana responsible for Jerry's murder? What is the likelihood Jerry would still be alive if the murderer wasn't high on marijuana and his brain fried from a lifetime of dope smoking? You lose judgement and rational skills while high. No one disputes that. I think there is a good chance that if the guy was not loaded he would not have committed the act. The same goes for anyone else. If you kill yourself while high that's your problem. The planet is better off for it. In most cases though someone who dies while intoxicated usually takes someone else with him, or at least causes the taxpayers a great deal of expense. Then you have the environmental impacts of marijuana. It is hardly an 'organically grown plant'. Gardens on public lands across the U.S. are grown with massive amounts of fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides. The runoff pollutes the soil and kills streams for miles. One garden site on National Forest land in CA was so contaminated the soil had to be hauled to a toxic waste dump (at taxpayer expense). All those chemicals are also absorbed by the plant and concentrate in the buds. in 1999 two hikers in CA were shot, one killed, when they accidently got too close to a garden. The crime syndicates that run the gardens now import illegal aliens to guard the sites. Legalization will not end this type of activity, if anything the increased demand would increase the number of illegal gardens. Imported marijuana is the same, so laced with chemicals some seizures had to burned in special waste incinerators. And most of the foreign marijuana is now genetically modified. How do you feel about GMO frankenfoods? Marijuana legalization is opposed by the medical and law enforcement communities. The pulp and fiber industries support the use of agrofibers and are the biggest sponsors of research on kenaf, hemp, jute, and other agrofibers.” 6:56:26 PM 2/06/02 “Marajuana is chemical? HMMM!!! Have you proof of your friend's mishap like the others asked for, Gordon” 7:02:41 PM 2/06/02 “Sh!t..........I forgot what I was gonna say!!!” 7:05:43 PM 2/06/02 “I wish I could get my hands on some of that frankenweed. I can can only get farfromfrankenweed!” 7:22:22 PM 2/06/02 “Sometimes you don't need supporting documentation to prove a point on a thread like this. The stoners incriminate themselves and in so doing so provide collaborating evidence for the opposition.” 7:48:13 PM 2/06/02 Wana here a joke “An anal retentive putz walks into a bar and the bartender say's.... How ya doin bacpac” 8:09:57 PM 2/06/02 “They say pot makes ya mellow. Just another myth from the stoners, eh swinger?” 8:15:54 PM 2/06/02 “What's more mellow than tellin' a joke You seem to be more tense than anyone else posting here. I think you need a joint” 8:21:49 PM 2/06/02 “The effects of marijuana are sedating and generally decrease violent tendencies. Lots of people in the medical community support legalization of marijuana. Forensic Psychiatrist James Gilligan in his book on "Violence" points out that the criminalization of marijuana results in increased violence,” 9:15:52 PM 2/06/02 “Three out of four burn outs CAN'T be wrong” 9:18:23 PM 2/06/02 “This is so nostalgic... Narcs and Hippies, Hippies and Narcs, LOL. I think some people just have too much time on their hands and should mind their own business. But that will never happen, will it? *G* It always comes back to the question of 'What is the greater evil?'. Do the effects of the drugs cause more harm than the fallout of the so-called 'war'? The way things are now, we have both. Did it ever occur to Bush or any of his pals that legalizing these substances would cut the narco-terror types right out of the loop? What power does La Cosa Nostra wield in the liquor industry these days? His argument is absurd on its face.” 10:28:50 PM 2/06/02 “Tilt, sorry, what argument is absurd?” 10:33:50 PM 2/06/02 If you Don't Like My Fire... ThenDon'tComeAround “My choice is what I choose to do, And if I'm causing no harm, it shouldn't bother you. Your choice is who you choose to be, And if you're causin' no harm, then you're alright with me... (guess the title/artist anyone?)” 10:41:08 PM 2/06/02 “Forensic Psychiatrist? Gilligan? REALLY? Sheeite, and all these years I thought the Professor was suposed to be the smart one! Didn't Giligan get busted for having weed?” 10:45:59 PM 2/06/02 Skippeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrr “Seaweed?” 10:49:52 PM 2/06/02 “Remember the episode when Gilligan made a bong out of a coconut......” 10:51:26 PM 2/06/02 Heer's Yor Bwain On Dwugs “French Government Report Says Marijuana Poses Less Dangers Than Alcohol June 18, 1998, Paris, France: Smoking marijuana poses less of a threat to public health than the regular consumption of alcohol, determined a French government commissioned report Tuesday. "The report again shows that the basis [for policies prohibiting marijuana] is totally wrong," spokesman for the Greens party announced in a prepared statement. The party is calling for a federal review of the nation's drug policies. Marijuana has low toxicity, little addictive power, and poses only a minor threat to social behavior, researchers at the French medical institute INSERM concluded. The report identified alcohol, heroin, and cocaine as the drugs most dangerous to health. Tobacco, psychotropic drugs, tranquilizers, and hallucinogens were placed in a second, less harmful group. Marijuana was classified in a third category of substances defined as posing relatively little danger. "This federally commissioned report concludes, just as the World Health Organization did earlier this year, that marijuana smoking does less harm to public health than drink and cigarettes," said Allen St. Pierre, Executive Director of The NORML Foundation. Junior Health Minister Bernard Kouchner said that the report's findings would not encourage the federal government to consider decriminalizing the simple possession of marijuana. He called the report "toxicologically correct but politically wrong." Kouchner's office paid for the INSERM study.” 11:03:42 PM 2/06/02 Need stronger stuff... “The problem with legalizing pot, is that once it's legal to use it, everybody from a certain age can use it. After awhile it doesn't give the user a high anymore...at least not a strong fast high. This will eventually lead him/her to use stronger dope...ie. coke, heroin, crack etc. to get that high. If it's illegal to use it...hopefully law abiding citizens would stay away from it. Just my $0.02.” 11:06:07 PM 2/06/02 “Right on Buddur” 11:07:20 PM 2/06/02 “Hi Fritz. I was talking about the original argument, the one Bush posed concerning drug money bankrolling terrorists. My point is: of course it does! That's the way the system works. Having these substances on the black market supports the narco-terrorists. It's interesting to see the same argument being used by the same people to oppose gun control. Some even employed it to defend the tobacco companies. I'd like travel in time... back to the 1920's when the coffee companies started the ball rolling to criminalize pot. There wasn't anyone beating their chest and talking about morality --- they just didn't like having any competition. I'll bet somebody stood up and asked, "If we make this illegal, won't it simply force the market underground?"... but they were out-voted.” 11:37:41 PM 2/06/02 “pot is so easy to get anyway, that if it's legalized and you can buy it at the store, close to the same percentage of people will still smoke it. of course this isn't true for everybody, but if you're not gonna smoke it, then chances are that it's for some reason other than it's illegal. now, since roughly the same number of people are going to be buying it wouldn't it be better to get tax money out of it rather than cost tax money to lock these people up? and, as far as the person who was killed by a stoner, he was gonna be a killer anyway, i mean come on, do you really think that smoking a joint every day of your life would make you go out and kill people” 12:31:53 AM 2/07/02 “I guess I would be a hypocrite to say I never did drugs. I just haven't done any in a long time. One of the main reasons I quit was that it was illegal. Being drug free is a great feeling. I would hate to think what my life would be like if I still did drugs. I have seen a lot of drugs in my life. None of them were benificial in any case I can recall. Those stories of pot ruining your short term memory? Very True. Those stories of pot ruining your short term memory? Very True.” 6:57:06 AM 2/07/02 7:18:24 AM 2/07/02 “Talk about mythology. That nonsense about people having to move up to stronger drugs like heroin and cocaine is a tired old lie from the '30s. Another winner is the notion that if mari-hoona was legal we would suddenly have stoned drivers on the road. Hell-oh! They're already here and have been drivin' stoned for years! Many years ago I was drivin' that thang.....in and around the city.....drinkin' a cup of coffee....eatin' a sandwich......jammin' gears.....dodgin' pedestrians.....and a very mellow fellow. Of course now I'm a burnt-out homicidal maniac knockin' over 7-11's to get my fix.....mooooooo-hahahahahahaha!!!” 8:02:01 AM 2/07/02 “One question: How many of the pot proponants tell their kids it's OK to smoke?” 8:11:03 AM 2/07/02 “BIG TWUCK!!!” 8:16:40 AM 2/07/02 SameWayYou'dEducateWRTAlcohol... NotTillYourOlder “Don't have kids...sperm count too low! Sorry, I lied. I've never been able to count my sperm.” 8:16:52 AM 2/07/02 “Wow, your sperm can count?” 8:27:23 AM 2/07/02 “Stick with it, Buddur.” 8:36:33 AM 2/07/02 “Nigal, I would not call myself a "pot proponent." On this thread I have argued for a position which I am not sure I support. I am in learning mode, thinking things through. This is an issue I've enever thought much about before. Truth is, I personally have never experimented with any illegal substance, and advise my children the same.” 8:42:31 AM 2/07/02 “I have the same advice for my kids. That and chastity belts......or chastity jock straps in the case of MY kids.” 8:45:58 AM 2/07/02 “Nigal: I don't tell my teenage sons that its OK for them to smoke cigarettes or drink alcohol, but I'm not in favor of making them illegal. What I do tell my kids is that the brain develops in dramatic and importan ways in adolescents and that I am hugely concerned about the deleterious effects of drugs on brain development. They know that I don't like the idea of putting alcohol, nicotene, THC, cocaine, ritalin, anti-depressants or any of a host of other drugs in the brains of kids.” 8:46:08 AM 2/07/02 “Nor I Ped, I think it should be legal. There is much talk by the smokers painting drinkers as irresponable and I was trying get a baseline of responsablity of the smokers. I've loosened up on a lot of things lately and while I think free will is important I have no problem telling irresponable people they are a jacka$$.” 8:53:27 AM 2/07/02 Hey Nigal “How many of people that have a glasss of wine with dinner or a social cocktail, tell their kids it's OK to drink alchohol. Probably alot since it is legal, Right. I had respect for you until you made that stupid little comment about pot smokers telling their kid's to smoke pot. You're getting a little rediculous now!” 8:54:17 AM 2/07/02 “I NEVER said they did that. Read a bit more carefully. I simply asked if any of the smokers did? It should be done the same way as alcohol, as Budder said. Remember, I'm for responsable smoking. I was playing devil's advocate here becuase a lot of smokers smoke when it is not apropriate and at times when they would never drink...to work, driving, ect.” 9:00:06 AM 2/07/02 For Gawd Sake... If It's Medicinal, LET'S USE IT “A friend of mine has an old friend from High Skool that is in serious shape at this moment. Cancer has spread throughout his abdominal cavity and there's nothing anybody can do about it. He's going through intensive chemotherapy (I've never met the poor guy), is bed-ridden, and has very little energy to do anything. His time on earth is dwindling. Anywho... Matt and his wife let this guy partake in the hospital bathroom while they are there. To get to the point and make a long story short...this guy says the marijuana high makes him feel better than the morphine he's given. Can't a dying man get as much relief from pain and anxiety as he can??? I have no reason to believe my friend and his wife are lying.” 9:14:13 AM 2/07/02 “Nigal's question was fair. Asking if you'd tell your kids if it is OK is one way of trying to ask: when the chips are down, how OK do you really believe it is? The question was also an invitation for people to explain their positions. I do think there is a difference between what's OK for someone in their 20s and what's OK for a teenager. That doesn't mean I reject the question, I just think that biological and psychological ("brain" and "mind") development has to be factored in to the answer.” 9:16:15 AM 2/07/02 “What is responsible smoking. Is it responsible smoking if I only have 1 joint before driving instead of two. Or should I not smoke at all. They say you're drinking responsibly if you only have one or two drinks before driving home from the bar. If it's responsible drinking for my boss to go to lunch with with his associates and have a coctail or two, why shouldn't I be able to have a few tokes.” 9:19:31 AM 2/07/02 Jump to Page << prev
