Matt decides not to use GearSwap

“I emailed Matt yesterday informing him of the GearSwap I created and was going to let him use my system and get all of the advertising on it just for all of you all here at TT. Anyway he got back with me and said that he was not going to use GearSwap because none of you guys would use it. So now I'm not sure exactly what to do. Should I keep it up and running or just start deleting file? I can't believe Matt didn't wanna use it?

“Don't worry that Matt doesn't want to use it. I personally liked the idea, but I also liked the idea of just posting a thread and trade/sell/buy that way. Much easier. I think that Matt's been down this road before and thinks it ain't worth it IMHO. If youlike it, keep it on your site and see what happens. You might find out why Matt doesn't want to do it...”

“thebackpacker.com used to have a classified section and it wasn't used much. Just post a thread, it's worked fine in the past...much quicker than the classified ads did.”

“Then put it on your own site you whiner.”

“Yea I think I will keep it around it is a really good program and I would love to get people interested in using it and maybe when Matt sees that people are using it he might want to incorporate it into this site.”

“Yes, I decided to pass on the GearSwap. As Sassafras mentioned, the classified ads section of thebackpacker.com never caught on and I just see a gear swap as the same idea as the classified ads. If a gear swap really caught on, I would seriously think about adding it to the site. But for now, I'll pass.”
