Check out the figure skaters. Most of them are training in Florida. Summer's even better. Practically all of the sprinters, jumpers and hurdlers, and a few distance runners, regardless of nationality, are either current or former NCAA athletes.”

“I enjoy hockey (Blackhawks fan) but since the pros have taken over hockey, basketball, tennis and baseball these sports in the Olympics have lost there luster at least to me. Go back to when college kids played the game. The USA winning the Gold in Hockey in 1980 means a whole lot more than if the USA Pro All-Stars beat the Canadian Pro All-Stars for the Gold Medal this yr.”

“I disagree completely. I've watched a lot of these games and the hockey is so much better. The college kids still have the world championships.

But if you are looking for predictions...

You have to say the Americans are favored in the gold medal game. They have been the absolute best team on the ice going into the game. The Canadians have gotten incredibly lucky in this thing.

Americans haven't lost on home ice since 1932. 20+ games.

The American Women's hockey team was favoured to win the gold...they won all 35 games this season...plus they beat the Canadians in all 8 meets.

Sometimes being #1 is more stressful than being the underdog...

All said, the Canadian Men's hockey team really sucked in this olympics...hopefully they'll play with an "all or nothing" attitude.”

The third period was evenly matched...that is before the 4th and 5th goal was scored by the Canucks.

It was a great game...pretty much evenly matched...it could've went either way.”
