You To Aero, If You're Still Out There
I saw on TV last night that Base Camp is having its' annual Gamblers sale.

They start out discounting stuff at about 20% off. Every day they mark the stuff that is left down even more. They get down to 75%.

Might be a good opportunity to get some good new stuff real cheap.

I've been busy w/ the baby and school. I have some classes this semester that are killer reading. I spend every ounce of free time reading boring stuff that could almost make my eyes bleed. Both profs. are assigning massive amounts of text every night. I didn't even get one single minute last wk. to post. Thank god I'm back at work this wk. and able to waste some co. time posting! Hooray for me!

Lumberjack song

Leader:
I'm a lumberjack
And I'm O.K
I sleep all night
And I work all day

Mounties:
Hés a lumberjack
And hés O.K
He sleeps all night
And he works all day

Leader:
I cut down trees
I eat my lunch
I go to the lavatory
On Wednesday I go shopping
And have buttered scones for tea

Mounties:
He cuts down trees
He eats his lunch
He goes to the lavatory
On Wednesday he goes shopping
And has buttered scones for tea

Hés a lumberjack
And hés O.K
He sleeps all night
And he works all day

Leader:
I cut down trees
I skip and jump
I like to press wild flowers
I put on women's clothing
And hang around in bars

Mounties:
He cuts down trees
He skips and jumps
He likes to press wild flowers
He puts on women's clothing
And hangs around in bars

Hés a lumberjack
And hés O.K
He sleeps all night
And he works all day

Leader:
I cut down trees
I wear high heels
Suspenders and a bra
I wish I'd been a girlie
Just like my dear Papa

Mounties:
He cuts down trees
He wears high heels
(spoken rather than sung)
Suspenders ..... and a bra?
That's shocking, etc.
That's rude...tuttut. . . tut...tut

Mike, I got to go on the 'Palooza w/ you guys. I was so pumped up and proud of myself after that, I was excited to get in another trip. But it didn't happen. I've got ALOT of stuff going on Mike, and I'm also not up for doing winter bping (at least not yet, I'm still too newbie for that). Winter in MT is dangerous cold. I planned 2 small, 1 night trips after MTpalooza, but both of them didn't work out. Hopefully next summer! Maybe I'll get to head back east and pak-pak w/ you!

Yeah, I'm aware! I'll be ready. What I really would like is to go on a trip that I can take Newergirl on, that is big part of why I can't get out. I have to choose to do it on the days when I am not working or at school and that means NOT spending those days w/ her. That was the whole reason I didn't do the whole MTpalooza. It's hard for me to do things that take more time from her.

How old is newergirl again?? I took Cameron on his first overnight backpacking trip at age 3, and we've gone every year since then. This winter will be his first winter camping trip (he's a really good XC skier!). When the time is right, get newergirl out there to enjoy the outdoors (although maybe not with CMB.... j/k!!)

newgirl comes east? I can see it now...the local TV news crew will cover it...there will be like 60 TT'ers in attendance...

Martyb, Newergirl just turned 2, so I'm still a little noivous. I was really excited to get her out there right away when I first came to TT, but now that I've had a more serious bp experience, I can see that I need to learn more myself, first. Maybe next yr. though, 3 does sound like a good age. We do alot of walks and I've done a few serious day hikes w/ her. She loves the outdoors, but I'm just not ready to take her overnight yet. How did you handle things w/ Cameron on that first trip?
newgirl

Keep breaking her in gradually. Keep making backpacking and camping seem like the greatest fun in the world. Take it a step at a time and she'll want more. She has a good mom, so she'll do just fine.

Of course, my youngest son used to bawl his head off on the trail. He could hike me into the ground now, but his wife doesn't like camping at all.

Hey newgirl,

Yeah, 2 is too young in my opinion, although some people do it. I thought 3 was great. I was very careful to pick a hike that he could do and where the weather would be predictable, etc. We did do a practice campout in the backyard, which was fun as well as being a good idea. I just posted a few pics from that trip (the backpack trip, not the backyard practice!) on my Webshots album here. He looks a little different than the kid who conquered Montana a couple months ago, huh? I find that it's a lot of fun to have him as my backpacking partner!

That is a totally goooood idea Marty! I would feel alot better about doing it, if there were other experienced people there to help me. Aero might even be interested in taking little Aerogal.

Let's see...

California: Great scenery, dry weather (warm enough to swim), few mosquitos....

Montana: RAIN, MOSQUITOS, COLD, uncomfortable family issues....

Tough decision....
