Retire at 50-55? Shees! I'm 53, my mortgage is Cdn250$ a month and I have - had - NO other debts after ten years of post-divorce financial misery and disaster. My kids are grown and working; my son is manic-depressive, but I can do nothing about it except be there when he needs me. He has a steady job and a lovely girl-friend and so I am a spectator now.

I am a high school teacher and love my job and have no intention of retiring while I can still do it.

I figure I have twenty good years ahead of me and intend to enjoy them. Tonka has just arrived. Tonka is short for my male-menopause/second-childhood/empty-nester TONKA TOY - a flame red Jeep TJ with both roofs, some extras and a kick-ass radio with 7-speaker surround sound including two tweeters and a subwoofer boom box.

I hope to establish a senior women's team at my rugby club this year. I hope to retire from rugby after this coming season (we registered two teams and our captain says I'll probably have to play another season). I hope to continue promoting rugby by continuing to coach boys' and girls' high school teams.

I also hope to do some high mountain mountaineering while I still can (I have all the gear).

That's about it. Happy trails.

Do as little work as possible...
Get paid for it.

Pee standing up and not get my shoes wet.

Retire right now.
Looks like I may have a chance the way real estate prices have gone up here recently.

Course, my husband will still have to hold down a job, but that means somebody has to stay home and take care of the house, yard, Idiots, and summer packing biz.

Guess I've elected myself.

BP, I'd take you up on your offer, but I'm too old, and you're too rednecked.

But you're still a cute hunk of a redneck.

my goal......
I wonder if I can single handedly overload the site with endless reams of the world according to Stikmon, but I won't. I will say that every year for whatever is left of my life, I will go someplace and do something that I have never done before, at the end of the life, in that last flash before death, I will relive one grand rerun, in living color, and uninterrupted by commercials. At that moment, I will travel back to all the places that I have ever been and remeet every person that I had ever met...So, in keeping with that thought and to make that goal a reality, doing as much as I can now, and meeting as many people that I can is of the utmost importance at the present and future moments, so...anyone want to go out into the woods and play this weekend and every weekend thereafter? I'll meet ya in the playground of life and then remeet ya at the end.

the end...

So little time, so much to do
I have too many goals! Finnish a degree, retire from fire service, see all 50 states before I turn 50, travel around the world, maybe a Peace Core stint, read all of my favorite authors, build the wife and myself a dreamhouse in Tennessee, skydive, hike many trails, be at peace with God. Oh, and live to a healthy 110, so I can do all of this.
