Griz, I say if you can't cut and run, you may as well join the fun. Thanks for the photos. That was GREAT!

Keep em coming! Neat pics, but the one I like best is the entourage one with the beautiful mountains in the background. I'd love to have that view outside my window.

Hmmm..... I guess when you wake up every day and the mountains are there, you begin to not notice them.

Hey Griz, have you seen the "Blue Marbles"? Here's a snippet of a forward I got from a friend at NASA...

We have now reduced the external illumination on Terra-MODIS/NOAA/Meteosat/GMS/USGS etc. 16 ft Olympic Blue Marble Globe that is installed in The Children's Museum of Utah (TCMU). It is internally illuminated and spins quite fast (one RPM). At night the globe is absolutely gorgeous and passersby are continually stopping outside to look or come into the atrium for closer examination. (See attached Images)

It looks like we have approval for the Main Douglas Dining Area at the Olympic Village as a site for the second 16 foot Blue Marble Globe. David Harrison and his crew will begin installation tomorrow or the next day. David has done a marvelous job in procuring two fabulous Globes for the Olympics getting them installed and adding the finishing touches to spectacular raw material. He has installed back-lit Earth Science Enterprise Posters, installed carpet, and done many other things to bring home our message.

The third Globe is installed in the 23rd floor 30 foot atrium in the Wells Fargo/SLOC building. With President Bush now a definite attendee at the Opening Ceremonies on Friday night, it is possible that he may attend the Senator Orin Hatch reception on Saturday night in this location. We will be looking for photo opportunities.

The Globes are being presented at the Olympics as part of an informal partnership between NASA-ESE-ESTO, The Children's Museum of Utah, and Tom Grimm-World Quest.

We now have the lighting controlled in our NASA/NOAA Etheater presentation room. The video from our 12,000 lumen super projector is stunning on the 30 ft screen in TCMU.

In the 2nd floor TCMU exhibit hall, with the help of the SMM a 15' x 30' Terra Global image has been laminated to the floor for the Olympic crowds to walk and crawl on. TCMU has also mounted very large spectacular murals of the US and ASTER seasonal images of Utah from JPL, and of SLC & Park City using Space Imaging IkONOS data on the walls of the exhibit hall. (please see attached images)

I should post these images somewhere, but they're fairly large... almost a megabyte a piece.

Nice!!!! I didn't know they were there. Those are cool. I want one! They said last year that they were moving the planetarium from this cool old building downtown to the TCMU in the new Gateway project. I was bummed.

The pic's I shot are posted within minutes of being taken. The beauty of digital. I'm gonna go downtown this weekend and take somemore.

Thanks for the photo's.

Post Olympic Blues
I posted more photo's of the firework show tonight. They had 6 or so sites the launched them from. What a show!

Sad to see them end. It was kinda fun having the world here. Everyone seem to have a good time and lots of parties and fun.

Back to normal tomorrow though. :(

Griz, cool pics! I'm afraid all my Olympic photos are of me working. Now what does the city do? We've done nothing but plan for this for the past 7 years. I guess I'll go hike.
