CI's vs. LitersView MessagesViewing posts 1 to 30 of 30 messages posted.
“I am currently looking for a couple new packs for my daughter and my wife LOL and alot of pack sizes are described in liters. I'm use to cubic inches and don't know what the comparisons are. What would an 80 liter pack be in ci's or a 54 liter pack be in ci's?” 6:26:40 PM 2/10/02 “One liter equals 61.023 cubic inches. Eighty liters equals 4881 ci; 54 liters equals 3295 ci; etc, etc.” 6:38:10 PM 2/10/02 “Let's see... A pint is a pound the world around. And a pint is close to 475ml. And 1 gallon is 3.78 liters. A mile is 5280 feet. So 80 liters divided by 3.78 liters per gallon equals 21.16 gallons. And 1 gallon of water is approximately 8 lbs. And 1 gallon of water is approximately 277.42 cubic inches. Therefore, disregarding the gravitational influence of 9.8 feet per second squared, the 80 liter pack = 21.16 X 277.42 cubic inches = a 5870.21 cubic inch pack.” 6:39:02 PM 2/10/02 “Buddur - Where'd your numbers come from? Could my almanac be wrong?!!!” 6:42:31 PM 2/10/02 “you better re-calculate buddur. 95 liter pack is what you came up with. multiply stated liters by 61 and you get a ball park figure in cubic inches.” 6:44:27 PM 2/10/02 Too Many Numbers “ Let's see... I'll leave the math to you. Didn't we try that metric stuff awhile back and decide that we didn't like it and the rest of the world could lump it???” 7:11:16 PM 2/10/02 “ball park figures” 7:14:06 PM 2/10/02 “To many numbers.....” 7:17:30 PM 2/10/02 “If a train is traveling north at a rate of 213 mph on a south bound track and a second train is traveling south at a rate of 198 mph on the same track, at what time will my pot dealer call me back Got Weed” 8:16:08 PM 2/10/02 “Listen,,,, Swinger, we get your point,,, you're a pothead,,,,there is no reason to be gay about it,,,, OK,, ,,,, so keep it to yourself,,,,,,, will ya!!!” 11:42:54 PM 2/10/02 “Yeah, about 60 inches to the liter.” 10:12:09 AM 2/11/02 11:10:14 AM 2/11/02 “if any kids ask you if they are ever gonna need "this" again, refer them to this thread. If Swinger ever asks if he is gonna need "this" again reefer him to another thread” 12:52:48 PM 2/11/02 “The other problem with Buddur's calculation is that he used the wrong weight for water. 1 gallon of water equals 8.33 lbs. and African swallows are not migratory anyway.” 2:12:14 PM 2/11/02 “What's your hiking speed in furlongs per fortnight? BTW -- the weight of water per gallon varies with temperature, as does grams per liter (although the variance is small enough to ignore).” 6:50:14 PM 2/11/02 “How many pico-parsecs per microcentury can you hike with a backpack full of coconuts?” 6:58:16 PM 2/11/02 “2” 7:00:09 PM 2/11/02 “I prefer matches to liters.” 9:54:18 PM 2/11/02 “Gordon, and also by altitude, yes?” 10:00:22 PM 2/11/02 “If Pierre has 43 arpents of river frontage and it goes back 172 arpents, and each square arpent produces 100 pounds of refined sugar, how much sugar will Pierre have at the end of the season if a hurricane comes in and wipes out half his crop?” 10:51:37 PM 2/11/02 “I believe weight variance by altitude would be quite small. Water is virtually incompressible so the effect of decreasing air pressure would be detectable only by the most delicate of instruments. The differences due to gravity changes also would be quite small. I am also not sure how much variance due to water chemistry could be expected, e.g. distilled water versus tap water. All things considered, go ahead and consider water to bea constant 8.33 lbs per gallon. The error of volume measurement would be greater than the density changes. You could easily end up with a precision-versus-accuracy situation.” 10:55:11 PM 2/11/02 “George weighs 245 pounds and drinks two triple lattes every morning. If each shot of espresso contains 490mg of caffeine, what is George's average caffeine density in mg/pound?” 11:24:14 AM 2/12/02 “Arpents? Stevehiker must be from Quebec. Multipying by anything more complicated than 6 makes my brain hurt. 45 litre pack X 6 = 2 700 cu. in.; my 75 litre pack X 6 = 4 500 cu. in. They're all approximate anyway, just add enough zeros to have it make sense.” 11:42:12 AM 2/12/02 “How tall is George?” 11:42:27 AM 2/12/02 Next question! “Michael has two abusive stepfathers and an alcoholic mother. If his self-esteem is reduced by 20% per dysfunctional parent, but Michael feels 3% better for every person he denigrates, how long will it take before he's ready to go home if a person walks by the streetcorner he's hanging out on every 2 minutes?” 11:58:30 AM 2/12/02 “what is the minimum level of self esteem needed to go home? is he denigrating every person that goes by? we need all the facts here.” 12:07:04 PM 2/12/02 Excellent work, everyone! “The City of San Francisco decides to destroy rats infesting downtown. If 4,837 animal rights activists hold a candlelight vigil, how many people did each of the 342 dead rats empower?” 12:39:11 PM 2/12/02 “Clever kleetn” 9:37:37 PM 2/12/02
