South Fork to Dry lakeView MessagesViewing posts 1 to 7 of 7 messages posted.
South Fork to Dry lake “WingDing had set up the trip to hike from South Fork trail to Dry lake, in the San Gorgonio Wilderness. I decided to join her on the trip. it was a great trip, with fun conversations, along with a little of trail explorations. And since I had never been to Dry lake it was new to me after the Dollar Lake Junction. We met quite a few people on the trail, including an older couple with snow shoes strapped to their packs. "Heading as far as her grandmother legs would carry her" she said. And also three guys who were heading out. And we all laughed about the cravings of the Carl's Jr. 6 dollar burger... Here are my pictures: http://community.webshots.com/user/wld257” 10:25:50 PM 2/10/02 mmmm $6 burger! “nice pics!” 2:32:18 PM 2/11/02 “How was the weather, and was there much snow on the ground?” 6:06:32 PM 2/11/02 snow level “After the Dollar Lake and Dry Lake junction the snow increased. Up the gully the snow was up to 3' deep in areas. However, for consistently deeper snow it looks like most of it is above the 9,000' area. And on the Northern side especially.” 6:39:48 PM 2/11/02 snow “We did not have a problem with the snow depth. It was hard/firm enough to walk on top, plus we followed some snowshoe tracks up the gully. I only fell thru once or twice at the most.” 6:42:06 PM 2/11/02 “Looks like fun! Thanks for sharing!!” 7:04:37 PM 2/11/02 “Wish I could have joined you. I make that hike about once or twice a year. I hope the lake and springs are better this summer. Last year was the dryest I have ever seen up there.” 1:28:50 AM 2/13/02
