Ok...As many of you know i'm in decatur now...moved twice since may (tuscaloosa, then Tampa)..Finding pple my age, or anyone to hang out with during down time has been harder up here than anywhere....

any of ya'll know any 20-30 year-olds that are close, into hiking, paintball, pool, and just plain goofing off?....friends, relatives, kids, yourself?..
The clubs around here lack, bars are so-so, not into church group activities, and trolling wal-mart isn't cutting it. *grins* thanks
This isnt' a personals ad, male or female apply within, bring beer, or money!

You are around some of the best hiking areas around here. If you are new to Decatur I'm sure you havn't covered all of Sipsey. Sipsey is a unique area. I have been going there for a lot of years and I still havn't seen it all. There are a lot of things out there that are off the beaten paths. If you don't get to see anything else out there you have to see the Big Tree. There are a lot of pictographs there that very few people have ever saw. Some of the bluff shelters are pretty much left untouched in hundreds of years. I will add that you need to pay attention to where your are, it is easy to get turned around out there if you are off trail. If you carry a map you can pretty much figure out where you are, but without a map all those canyons look the same. You can also hike on the Wheeler wildlife refuge and the mountains around Huntsville. If you ain't been on this area during the summer I think you will be surprised. Things pick up during the summer months.

I grew up in Huntsville and there are some pretty cool trails in Montesano(SP)State Park. If you do some bushwacking around there lookout for landslides and old cave dwellings. The last time I was home, circa 1997 there were some cool nightclubs around and some raves, if that's what your into.

1 80s style club, a cowboy club, and a so-so regular club are all that's left in HSV...I used to do Monto sano when i live here 12 years ago..will check it out again soon. The raves are gone...drugs took over the scene and the police have a tight lid on any DJ's and clubs that host techno music.

Alabama Nature Conservancy
I'm no expert on the ANC, but within the last year they've opened an office near my house and bought some property.

I live on Keel Mountain which is east of Huntsville. The ANC has bought some property on the mountain and built a hiking trail. I remember reading about this about a year ago in the paper but forgot about it. Just recently my wife reminded me and we went looking for the property and trail. Turns out it is close to my house and has a cool hiking trail that leads to a cave.

The cave is one of the reasons that the ANC got the land. I'm pretty sure that developers were going to build there and the cave had some critters in it that were rare. The ANC acquired the property to stop the building. My wife and I hiked the trail and we really enjoyed it. There's no loop, so you hike in for about an hour and then hike out the same trail.

If anyone close to Huntsville wants to give it a go then e-mail me and we'll set something up. I would rate the trail as easy/moderate.
