And on top of all that, I was sidelined for a large chunk of the spring due to a knee injury and not being able to walk downhill (or down stairs, for that matter). Had it not been for that, I could've probably broken 35 bag nights and at least 450 trail miles...

11 bag nights, oh the shame...I hope to double that in 2005. Will have to retire from Sunday Softball to do this....much to think about.

35 to 40 bag nights this year and close to 400 miles. Next year I hope to get 150 to 200 bag nights and 2170+ miles.

My goal for next year is to get over 100,000' of elevation gain. I missed it by about 5000' this year.

I would also like to do at least one weekend trip this coming year with over 10,000' of gain.

Nimblefoot, are you joking or planning a through hike?

Lumberzac, do you get high a lot? JKing.

After I read this thread, I counted up my nights for this year. It's pathetic, and I thought I was out a lot. 16 nights :( with 3 more planned :) so I'll end the year at 19. I did 2 6-day trips and a smattering of weekend trips.
It's not about getting more nights or more miles or more feet (in elevation, that is). But looking at something objectively is a great way to see if your doing what you want or letting stuff interfere.

Wow, I havent been keeping track - maybe I should start for 2005. I have a huge trip planned for the summer, so hopefully I can get 30 nights right there!

Where're you going, NF? I signed up for the JMT, but that's nowhere near 2000+ miles.

I see the elevation thing as more of a personal fitness goal. A few years ago a weekend with about 2000 to 3000 feet of elevation would nearly beat me to death. When I go hiking I mainly look at elevation gain as a way to gage whether I will be capable to do the hike or not. I like to do a few hikes a year to test my limits, because when I do other less difficult hikes, I can spend more time absorbing the scenery and less time trying to catch my breath. A lot of times it’s nice to hike 10 miles and have very little elevation gain.

Cool stats.

I'm at 27 bag nights for the year. I didn't count the nights in the tent in the back yard. This is my first year bping, so I'm pleased.

Next year I hope to equal or better that. And I think I'll start keeping track of mileage as well. I like the elevation tracking idea.

I thought I just might do the JMT back and forth until I got to 2000. j/k. No, I'm hittin' the AT sometime in March.
