Logic and objectivity are extremely useful tools for living, but if you subscribed to their use exclusive of emotion and compassion, would you become cynical and resentful?
Emotions, and the ability to feel them, make life more rewarding, but people who are ruled by their emotions tend to be unstable.
I think, like Arc said, Rand exaggerated some characters only to make a point. However, many people seem to take her "philosophy" as the last word, and it doesn't seem like it takes into account all things necessary to live a full and happy life. Case in point, you cannot live life in a purely objective or logical manner. We have proved on this thread that it is hard to even say what is in one's own best interest, let alone what serves the greater good.

I feel certain that the most difficult challenges are behind us at this point. He can't read or do math, but is fairly independent and attends to his own needs for the most part.”

Seriously though. There is a reality, even if none of US ever touches it. We don't have all the right detectors. For us to know reality, we would have to be able to interpret every type of mass, energy, dimension and time. Humans just are not capable of that.”
