REI dividend checks

“It looks like REI updated the online check out, so you might be able to use your 2001 dividend now, even before you get the paper copy.

Now if only I knew what I wanted.”

“Yep, just started an order and was able to use my dividend. Also tracked down a coupon code - TAKETEN, for 10% off.”

“I have been wanting the Marmot Precip Jacket and pants....
Went and placed my order, got to use my dividend ($62.27) and a 10% coupon(DVD2K)for members that are applying their dividend to a purchase which gave me another $9.90 off the Jacket.
$168 + tax and shipping turned out to be $95.83 + tax and shipping!

“Just go to their website and place an order there is a box to check ...apply my dividend to this order or something to that affect.
You also can get the 10% coupon for applying your dividend.
Just type in DVD2K in the coupon code box.”

“I ended up useing my dividend at REI-Oulet.com and couldn't believe how far $125 could go. I guess it pays to take everyone to REI and "show them" what they should get. "Here use my card number".”

“REI has tried to get me to sign up for there dividend program but the question I have is, "Is it worth it". From what I can tell your dividend doesn't count if you buy an item that is on sale. So if you have to pay full price do you save enough to make the dividend refund worth it or are you better off to buy items on sale only.”

“$40.20 here and it's burning a hole through my pocket. Ouch!

And question if I might. How much does it cost to join REI these days? Is it still $5.00?”

“15 i think”

“Well, over the years, the extra member discounts during general sales or member-only sales have more than paid for the $5 membership fee. Just shop carefully and figure the dividend rate in when you debate buying at regular price. If you are in a place with few gear options, REI at least offers a very reliable service, with an extensive range of gear.”

With the dividend and the coupon I got almost $100 off the OR Deluxe bivy I've been lusting after.
So, Ewker, I'd say the membership is worth it.”

“I finally broke down and bought a LED light (PT attitude). My minimag is great except for an seemingly intrinsic ability to die during the worst possible situation. (i.e. involving a friend spending an unexpected overnight sans sleeping bag). Nice little toy, I'm going to test it out this weekend.”

My dividend was over $300 but we use our REI credit card for most household purchases and get a percentage back in our dividend.”

Rest of group except friend: Straggling back in in 9:30 PM after getting nicely turned around dayhiking off trail. (I make a point not to hike with this particular leader anymore)

Me: Went after the missing person at 10pm. My flashlight died about 10 minutes out and the extra batteries were back at camp.

Friend: Lost the trail in the dark, and had to spend the night out without his sleeping bag. He got lucky, the next night it got COLD.”

“i did not get the check. i was purchasing something and when i checked out it gave me my dividend balance... an age-old trick. put something in your cart, check out, and on the paymet screen you will see your balance. then cancel the order.”
