“Artex - I've taken a little heat from Arclite on the college football thread - particularly near the end of last season. It will be very interesting to see how the Gators do this season. I was one of the few 'Noles that gotta kick out of old Spurrier. Give us a couple more years and Bowden will be movin' on as well.

Gruden will help the offense and I think that Sapp and the rest of the D will appreciate his hardnosed approach.”

Yeah, Dungy was a bit of a softy, and a very conservative coach. Dungy just couldn't take the Bucs to the next level and they needed an offensive minded head coach to balance their strong defense and coaching staff on that end. However, I bet Dungy is an excellent fit for Donman's Colts, for the same reasons but mirrored. Colts offense was strong, but they needed a head cheese to beef up the D.

I'm just glad I have something big to look forward to for next football season. With Spurrier out I have no hope for college FB, and if the Bucs never would have got Gruden, that would have stunk as well.”

And since I live in So Cal I hate both the raiders and the rams... since the raiders traded Gruden for top draft picks, when they are already talent heavy there should be some really good controversy and drama at the raider camp! No doubt Willingham will restore some honor and a lot of class at ND football-wise. But Gruden would've been fun to watch on the sidelines.

And, while I certainly agree that Gruden dumped one crazy for two, I'm not necessarily sure the ND job wouldn't have been dumping one crazy for 1000s (i.e. the ND alumni--fan/money power base).”

“Bad move. Good players make good coaches. Bucs gave up too many shots at good players with draft picks they gave up. Presence of Gruden does not make their offensive personnel any better. Bucs are going down! Too bad they have to drag a good young coach with them.”

“I don't think the Bucs will trade any key players to replace the pics.. a solid foundation of players is in place, so the Bucs could sort of kind of afford to give up the future draft pics to get Gruden. They do need to beef up the O-line some though.
