For a while, now, I've been considering the purchase of a Philips CD recorder, because I'd like to pick and choose particular songs to a single disc. A friend, however, suggests I buy a CD burner for my computer, and at about 10% of the cost.

Could that be right? And if so - or close - what should I look for? What questions do I ask? What features do I want?

You should get a 12 or 16X CD burner for your computer. Go to www.pricewatch.com for special prices.
Do not buy anything above a 16X right now. The faster you burn the less quality there is to your recordings.
Brand name isn't that important.
Since Napster is gone there still are sites outthere to download songs from. You can go to www.kazaa.com or www.winmix.com
Hope that helps

I finally got one and love it. While I make mix CDs for others I am hard pressed to burn entire CDs for people and I do not burn software anymore.

As a fadder of macts...Budder, you should be getting some primo #&%!$ in yer mail box in a week or so. I'm comfortable enough in my sexuality to say that, yes, I have been burning for you Budder! LOL! All I gotta do is find yer addie again.

Mmmm....cd recorders! I love mine. Use it all the time.

Burn music cds, burn video cds (you can download nearly ever TV show off the Internet) to playback on my DVD player.

Great investment.

Definetly go the PC route.

And if you have the high-speed internet connection, downloading songs is a snap. Check out www.kazaa.com and download there software.. it's like Napster, but you can also download software, and even movies. If I can't find a particular artist on kazaa, I go with www.audiogalaxy.com as a backup. Napster is a bit limited with all the lawsuits..

With a burner, kazaa, and the internet connection, they'll pay for themselves with the money saved by not supporting the music industry, which rips off both the consumer and the artist. Down with the man!

Morphious is a good one I here. I spent all day yesterday downloading only 19 songs. I wish I had cable.
