What's the largest TT trip?View MessagesViewing posts 1 to 13 of 13 messages posted.
“Just interested if anyone knew what's the largest attendance for a TT trip? This weekend's Savage Gulf trip has around 20+ going. Thats one big backcountry party. With a group that size what special precautions or extra LNT practices are usually followed?” 2:42:05 PM 2/19/02 28+ at Titanium Chef “I counted 28 plus animals and a few day hikers at the TC Cookoff, LNT in Savage? Oh that we could really educate the peeps that hike before us.....” 3:13:16 PM 2/19/02 “It was more like 40+ total.. by most accounts, it was at least 35.” 3:16:45 PM 2/19/02 “Thats big I hope the Montana trip get a HUGE turn out!” 3:40:22 PM 2/19/02 “I kinda got mixed feelings about that. I would love to meet lots of people but feel funny about hiking with a crowd in the backcountry. I also got the following warning from someone who shall remain nameless: "Now for some advice on Montana. You might want to be careful. I've heard some of those Montana TT people are extremist wackos. Even some axe murderers amongst them. California liberals seem to upset them ...just be careful." On the other hand, he was trying to get me to go on a different hike. Maybe I shouldn't trust him. Maybe he is an extremist wacko. Come to think of it, he is!!” 6:21:06 PM 2/19/02 “Lets do the math People who say they are coming on a trip - procrastinators - lame bailers - those who honestly can't make it = 10% of the actual number showing up.” 6:41:50 PM 2/19/02 “I already turned in my Vacation form in at work.” 6:47:50 PM 2/19/02 “It will be the 2nd cook off -- We need at least 100 this year!!!!” 8:04:43 PM 2/19/02 “The next Cook Off should be at Hobbs Cabin campsite. That way EVERYBODY has to walk 8 1/2 miles. The event could be held at the group area right in front of the cabin.” 8:09:59 PM 2/19/02 “Most people only hiked in 2 1/2 miles to Fiery Gizzard. Hell, I could carry a Microwave oven and a generator that far.” 8:11:31 PM 2/19/02 “heh.. more than 2.5 miles ehh?.. you will scare a bunch of people off!.. This cookoff idea is still so foreign to the 'nashville' crowd -- that if we make it more than five miles, a lot of folks will balk. The 2.5 was nice.. but another location is fine with me. Personally, I think with some suitable security persons about, we can still use the Small Wilds site. I'm with JoshMan. He has already contacted some of the major manufacturers of camp gear -- and I figure in conjunction with that -- we could have a huge drawing card. Few of us would pass up a chance to get piece of equipment to use, for free, cos we won it, doing what we already do well. WD wants tougher entry guidelines, JoshMan wants more participation -- can we find middle ground? Do we want this thing to push the envelope a little?.. Longer, tougher, packweight rules?” 8:40:44 PM 2/19/02 I really wanna do Montana... “in fact I'm going to look for a 2nd job this weekend (Adventure 16 here I come) so I can handle a few things and a plane tic” 9:41:07 PM 2/19/02 Hmmmmm..... “The RRG trip must've weighed in at 2-3 tons. That's pretty large.” 4:17:14 PM 2/20/02
