A Walk Around America

“As my graduation date approaches it is becoming more and more apparent what I will be doing with my life. On April 15, 2003 I will be heading off in a walk around America. I have thought through many things, and made my final decision. As of right now I am in the planning stages, and am trying to get the funding for this trip. I would appreciate it if anybody has any ideas on where to obtain sponsorships or funds for a trip like this, every little bit of money helps. I will be taking this first year to earn money and make requests. “Not to be disparaging, but if you haven't already, read Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer. It's about a kid who set out to do the same thing, did a lot of it, and wound up dead in the back of a school bus in the Alaskan wilderness.”

Anyway, simer didn't say anything about trying to live in the wilds of Alaska without a map and nothing but a pocket full of .22 bullets to live on.

simer - will you be trying to bring attention to a certain cause? Sometimes folks get sponsorships from gear companies. GVP Gear sponored a hiker that finished the three major N-S U.S. L.D. Hiking Trails.

Good luck to you - I personally would not enjoy the road hiking.

Whenever we're watching one of those Everest things on Discovery or the learning channel, I just tell her I'm not in good enough shape to do something like that. Calms her down a little.

Then I talk about hiking to the top of one of the fourteeners the next time we go to Colorado....”
