Gore Tex Dress ShoesView MessagesViewing posts 1 to 19 of 19 messages posted.
“I may not be able to wear hiking boots to work - but darn it - I walked into Johnston & Murphy and saw 'Waterproof' on a tag on some nice leather dress shoes. Sure enough they were Gore-Tex lined. The salesman said that they were popular in cold climates becuase of snow and slush. Even though I am in sunny Florida - wehre the last time it snowed was 1977 - I still bought them. My arse may be in this chair but my feet are on the trail!” 8:37:39 PM 2/20/02 “Cool!” 9:12:15 PM 2/20/02 “Hey, I've got a bridge in Brooklyn that I'll sell ya...” 9:35:48 PM 2/20/02 “How much do you want for that bridge?” 9:39:43 PM 2/20/02 “Coop, this post belongs on the "Evil America" thread.” 10:02:15 PM 2/20/02 “Novelist and travel writer Paul Theroux noted in The Old Patagonian Express (and probably in some of his other books) that the most important item for successful world travel was a good pair of waterproof shoes.” 10:24:02 PM 2/20/02 “Now you have dress gear! LMAO!!!!!!!” 5:34:48 AM 2/21/02 “I found gore-tex running shoes in a catalog I get. Now that seems useful!” 7:32:58 AM 2/21/02 “Big Coop - Good move. Most people are unaware how much standing water(puddles) exists in Florida when it rains. I switch to waterproof boots at work(supermarket) because of the deep puddles in the parking lots.” 7:54:10 AM 2/21/02 “See, Gore-tex makes the world seem better” 9:47:57 AM 2/21/02 “Wouldn't it just be easier to walk around the puddles?” 9:57:09 AM 2/21/02 “I have a pair and make every attempt to spill coffee on them at conferences.” 11:36:26 AM 2/21/02 “Big Coop's got him some fancy shoes! I bought a pair of shoes and a belt at Johnston & Murphy's once... the next day my credit card company called to ask me if I spent $250 in a shoe store lastnight! Good shoe store” 4:01:38 PM 2/21/02 “"Wouldn't it just be easier to walk around the puddles?" Artex 09:57:09 AM 02/21/02 Thanks for your suggestion. I've tried it, but some of puddles are almost ponds. Some you don't see while you're trying to miss others, especially in the dark. It is easier to don the boots and quit worrying about your steps. Besides, it is an opportunity to use these boots. Originally, I bought them for bp-ing, but found myself preferring my regular hiking boots. If the daytime forecast is for 15 degrees or lower, sometimes I will use insulated boots while bp-ing.” 8:00:05 PM 2/21/02 “Now I can head straight for the puddles with abandon. Actually I would have purchsed them anyway - the waterproofednessity was an added bonus.” 10:05:37 PM 2/21/02 “I still think it's easier to walk around them. If you look hard enough you can see them. They're usually wet and filled with water. In the dark, they even reflect the light! Wow, that's neat!” 10:29:04 PM 2/21/02 “P.S. I hope you realize I'm just playing around! :-)” 10:43:43 PM 2/21/02 “Artex - Just returned, started reading and wondering. LOL Actually, I was wondering, "How do I explain that I'm not just wandering in the rain, but working." Is that you in the picture on "your home page?" (I only had a quick glance at the page, so far.) Big Coop - Get em! Stamp them puddles out.” 11:26:56 PM 2/21/02 “Nowslimmer - Yes, that's me.” 10:12:28 PM 2/22/02
