I still like the climbing guy the best. I just think of all the fun I could have had with that kind of talent.

Now you like the climbing guy the best? Mere hours ago you liked the unicyclist the best.

sheesh...

(and yes, I am still ticked at you for dissing my fave, especially the gourd-thong part. That was the best! LOL!!)

Ltwtbkpkr, wolfeyes and I checked this out last night here in Magnificent Michigan. Highly recommended! Some really beautiful, funny, sad, etc films. Great variety.

I saw it last week and wasn't as impressed as I have been in the past. I gather they have about 25 films that they show in different configurations - maybe the 8 I saw just weren't the ones for me.

Banff Mountain Film Festival was @ MSU-B here in Billings this week-end. Like you AmyG, we enjoyed Cannibals & Carabiners. Hard to envision going through that much misery.

We also enjoyed the kid from Boulder, Co. who scaled the college dorm, etc. It was only 9 minutes long but great fun.

Looked for you Aero, but if you were there we didn't pick you out of the crowd.

I couldn't make it this year, Geezr. I usually help sell concessions but I got the Women's volleyball team to do it. I heard from some other people that it was pretty good! Too bad we didn't film Montanapalooza!

Aero, I suppose with a little editing the antics of CMB could have been turned into a documentary.

Just the "Deer Stalking incident" could make for a full feature!

I was thinking his morning "meds" routine could be turned into a "How To Enjoy Backpacking To It's Fullest" feature. ;-)

Don't miss the excitement of the best mountain and outdoor adventure films from around the world! On Monday, March 8, 2004, the Banff Mountain Film Festival's "Best of the Festival" tour will be presented at the Scottish Rite Cathedral, 1533 Hamilton Street, Allentown, PA, from 7:00 - 10:00 p.m.

I went yesterday, Sunday. The presentation was in Montreal and it was outstanding. While it soesn't always have the same films, everyone will probably see the winners of the Mountain and Culture and Mounaiteering categories.

M & C is about a southeastern Chinese nomda whosees life change around him and has a terribly stressful time raising money to send his sister to university. Don't miss it! Also, the mountaineering winner is fantastic. Two young Swiss climbers climb the north face of the Eiger using the same, 1938 era gear that Heinrich Harer (author of 'Seven Years in Tibet' et alia used for the first climb.

BTW, the nine minute exerpt showing the tiny climbing dog was everyone's favourite judging by the applause.

I hope you liked the film festival...

To be honest with you, Danielle and I feel that this was the worst collection of films we have seen!

That soccer movie was good but not for this festival....

I think the skiing, climbing and kayaking films kicked a$$ though.
Adventurist

Yes, I did enjoy the films last night. The climbing dog (Biscuit?) was awesome, as well as the ski and kayak films. If the soccer film was short, like 10-15 minutes instead of an hour, it would have been ok.
Pennsy

how was the last film?
Adventurist

3/09/04

It was sort of a documentary about a Croatian skier. You really didn't miss much by leaving early.

I really liked the film about Derek Hersey. Man, that dude had some serious nads to do all those solos. Of course he paid the ultimate price though.
Pennsy

3/09/04

Yeah..he did have serious nads....

Couldn't you see them in those shorts he wore?

He lived his life to the fullest though, didn't he?

I have some pictures of climbers in that Eldorado Canyon...I'm going to go look and see if any of them are climbing without ropes.
Adventurist

3/09/04

LOL! Maybe YOU noticed mister, not I. I can't imagine many climbers today do that. Did you notice that the only time he used a rope was when he was belaying someone. He was being interviewed and every few moments he would take his eye away from the camera to let out a little slack. Would you want to be up top with your belayer doing an interview?
Pennsy

wow...am I sorry that I missed the big nads guy!?! It sounds like it quite an adventure...um...adventurist.

;p

PS>Thankyou for saying that this year's wasn't ass good as in the past. I was so bummed that I couldn't go and it would have been much worse to hear how it ROCKED, man or it was the best one ever!
AmyG

Yeah...he was letting the rope out as he should though....

When you belay someone its more on feel then vision...

Sometimes you can't see the person you are belaying.

I really enjoyed the show when I saw it a couple years back. I've missed the last two for various reasons but will do what I can to get to Ann Arbor or E Lansing for the new tour.
