Coolest TV intro

I have watched the new Star Trek series titled "Enterprise" a handful of times. It has one of the best intros I've ever seen on TV. It starts with the Rod Stewart song "It's Been a Long Time". The scene shows a single sail boat on the ocean at sunset, then an old Spanish sailing ship, then sketches and calculations that are reminiscent(sp?) of Galileo, then newer ships with calcs superimposed over them, the Wright brothers footage, early jets, Apollo footage, space shuttle footage, space station footage, pathfinder footage, space plane(being planned) footage, and then Enterprise. The whole time the song is playing while our technological evolution is shown. I love it.

Come on! Better than the Simpsons? Is the show any good? I never could watch the others besides Next Generation.

I like it. It had been coming on at the same time as either Ed or West Wing, so I didn't watch it much. I think it has been moved to 9CST, so I try to catch it now. I loved TNG and still watch some of the reruns on TNT.

This Simpsons intro is pretty good too.

The new enterprise is surprisingly good...its less treky, and has alot of stuff that make it seem less fictional..and bakula is easier to relate too...Kirk sucked...picard was ok

Picard was GREAT. I loved the way he tied very diverse subjects of study together in one person. He was well read, was a diplomat, and started out as a physicist. That character showed the wide range of Patrick Stewart the actor.

Enterprise seems to be a "how did we get here" kinda show. It shows us(humans) screwing up as we take our first baby steps into the next frontier. We screw up, the Vulcans try to help us, and we resist because our way is best. Some parallels to religious belief, now that I think about it.

Amen to dat, brutha Rad. I just nixed the cable because I couldn't justify spending $40 a mo for maybe 5 hours of mostly pointless viewing. If I need to, I'll see what reception I can get with some wire coathangers and tinfoil...

I agree rad. My wife and I have drastically reduced our TV viewing. I read a good bit now, hike when I can, spend quiet time at home, roll around and play in the floor with kids, and am pretty heavily involved in two civic groups. The less TV I watch, the happier I am. There are still a few shows I enjoy.

My two year old actually likes to watch basketball and football. I have it made! We try to keep him away from TV. I realize it's used as a convenient baby sitter, but we avoid it like the plague. It doesn't exactly set up good life habits.
