Uh huh!
In my quest to eat healthier, I've decided to take the plunge and try fish.

When I was a child my father was a fisherman. He'd go on 2-3 day trips and come back with hundreds of pounds of fish. Guess what my family would be eating for the next few months? FISH! So I have had fish, but it's been about 15 years. And the fish I used to have would almost always be fried. YUCK!

My wife was kind enough to bake me up a nice healthy fish tonight. Hell, I don't even know what kind of fish it was. But the point is, it wasn't bad! I can see doing this twice a week.

Halibut and swordfish also don't have that fishy taste, but they are pretty expensive. But man, I love Halibut.

I love fish - salmon, cusk, fresh smelts, perch, smoked alewives and any crustaceans. It's shrimp season right now, I'm gonna find a truck this weekend and get 10 or 20 pounds.

Redfish, a big slab of yellowfin tuna.. some red snapper.. any of those.. I tend to like 'white' fish over the dark/oily varieties -- sowrdfish for example..

but shoot, have done sardines.. but eWw.. don't really care for it.

(bring on the hot sauce and crackers!)

Orange roughy is really good but man, it's so expensive. Trout, salmon, ahi, etc. I love swordfish and sea bass but they're being fished into extinction so I try to refrain.

I love fish, catchin` `em, eatin` `em and cookin` `em! Not many years pass by that I don`t fill at least one freezer with nothing but fish,...

I love shrimp and crawdads (mud-bugs) too, but best of all is crab-legs! Yummy!

Anyone up for a fish fry?LOL

Geez, I remember the smelt runs every year in Michigan. My brother and I usually handled the cleaning, which was just gutting them with your thumb and rinsing them out. T

Fish Are People Too
It was April the 41st, being a quadruple leap year
I was driving in downtown Atlantis
My Barracuda was in the shop, so I was in a rented Stingray, and it was
overheating
So I pulled into a Shell station
They said I'd blown a seal
I said, "Fix the damn thing and leave my private life out of it, okay
pal?"

While they were doing that I walked over to a place called the oyster
bar -- a real dive
But I knew the owner, he used to play for the Dolphins
I said, "Hi, Gil!!!"
You hafta yell, he's hard of herring

Think I had a wet dream
Cruisin' through the Gulf Stream
Oooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
Wet dream...

Gil was also down on his luck
Fact is, he was barely keeping his head below water
I gullied up to the sandbar
He poured the usual
Rusty snail, hold the grunion, shaken, not stirred
With a peanut butter and jellyfish sandwich on the side -- heavy on the
mako
I slipped him a fin -- on porpoise
I was feeling good
I even dropped a sand dollar in the box for Jerry's Squids -- for the
halibut

Well, the place was crowded
We were packed in like sardines
They were all there to listen to the big band sounds of Tommy Dorsal --
what sole
Tommy was rockin' the place with a very popular tuna -- "Salmon Chanted
Evening"
And the stage was surrounded by screaming groupers
Probably there to see the bass player

One of them was this cute little yellowtail
And she's giving ME the eye
So I figure, this is my chance for a little fun
You know -- a piece of Pisces

But she said things I just couldn't fathom
She was too deep, and seemed to be under a lot of pressure
Boy, could she drink
She drank like a... she drank A LOT...
I said, "What's your sign?"
She said, "Aquarium"
I said, "GREAT!!! Let's get tanked!"

Think I had a wet dream
Cruisin' through the Gulf Stream
Oooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
Wet dream...

I invited her up to my place for a little midnight bait
I said, "C'mon baby, it'll only take a few minnows"
She threw me that same old line
"Not tonight -- I got a haddock"

And she wasn't kiddin' either, 'cuz in came the biggest, meanest looking
haddock I'd ever seen come down the pike
He was covered with mussels
He came over to me, he said, "Listen shrimp -- don't you come trolling
around here"
What a crab
This guy was steamed -- I could see the anchor in his eyes

I turned to him, I said, "Abalone -- You're just being shellfish"
Well, I knew it was going to be trouble, and so did Gil, 'cuz he was
already on the phone to the cods
The haddock hits me with a sucker punch
I catch him with a left hook
He eels over
It was a fluke, but there he was, lying on the deck, flat as a mackerel
Kelpless

I said, "Forget the cods, Gil, this guy's gonna need a sturgeon"
Well, the yellowtail was impressed with the way I landed her boyfriend
She came over to me, she said, "Hey big boy, you're really a game fish"
"What's your name?"
I said, "Marlin"

Think I had a wet dream
Cruisin' through the Gulf Stream
Oooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
Wet dream...

Well from then on, we had a whale of a time
I took her to dinner
I took her to dance
I bought her a bouquet of flounders
And then I went home with her
And what did I get for my trouble?
A case of the clams

We went fishing today and caught them until the world looked flat. It was a great day all around, we saw deer, turkey, quail, a kingfisher, doves, ducks and a red fox.

I broke my line twice and my friend broke his once, the big ones were biting for a change. That was the fun part, now I gotta clean them, oh well, fish fry this weekend!LOL

They don`t have anything like that here:(
We have a block party and some of the women bring side dishes, slaw, baked beans, potato salad, cokes, ice tea and sweets. All of the guys haul out the fish they`ve caught and we fry them up and cut up some taters to fry and make hushpuppies and onion rings.

If the weather is right then homemade ice-cream follows that and coffee and cake!

It`s a hoot,... small towns are best!LOL

Oh,.. I`m sorry,.. we didn`t keep any of the big fish we caught last night and we only hauled out or limits,....well, I told you the truth about the big ones for crying out loud!LOL

We did throw a lot of fish back, it was a private lake and the guy lets us catch all we want, but he likes the big ones left there so we do.

Small towns sound great, Big Foot, at least the ones that have big fish frys like you described.

I don't think NJ has orphanages anymore either, although sometimes I think that they might be an improvement for some kids.

Splash I do freeze up some fish every year, about a freezer full most times. I`m one of nine kids myself and all of my family still lives here and they love fish frys too and I have three grown children and they love it and haul back fish to cook up later.

Small towns are best, you know everyone. The bad thing about small towns is, you know everyone!LOL

Yes, you are right, it`s a shame, but some kids are better off in a place like that, that actually gives them a little care and has someone watching out for them.:(

Sewer Trout
City to spend $2 million on condom problem

MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin (AP) -- Milwaukee will spend $2 million on a filtering system at a wastewater treatment plant in an effort to stop condoms from floating into Lake Michigan.

The issue drew attention in June when a fisherman said he saw hundreds of spent condoms in the Milwaukee harbor, prompting the state attorney general to threaten to prosecute the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District Commission over the problem.

Workers for the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District Commission said they found only 50 or 60 condoms in the harbor after the fisherman's complaints, but the district has been paying an average of $460 per day for an employee to scoop spent condoms with long-handled nets from tanks at a wastewater treatment plant.

Crews also scoop any prophylactics from the lake.

On Monday, the commission agreed to spend $2 million for a short-term solution to the condom problem. Then in 2005, the city will spend $13 million to replace 20-year-old screens and other equipment that have failed at the plant.

I read three things to find out world events. NY times website, My local paper and Violin's posts. Keep it coming.
