Leaving the Nest

It's interesting to see cliches come to life: came out this morning and the first of the three zebra finch babies had come out of the nest and was sitting on a perch with the parents. Shortly after, the second came out. But the third will only come to the door of the nest and look at its family, which seems to be encouraging it to make the big transition.

And if there are any doubts about the compressibility of down, watching the parents squeeze into that nest with three growing fledglings answers those questions. Must be pretty cozy, no wonder the last little one wants to stay inside.

Cute little buggers, huh?

Sounds kinda like my first son who is now 18.
He did NOT want to come out into the world.
Man, he hollered!
The other two were very quiet in their first appearances......puzzled looking and quiet.

B-Son is heading to my sister's this morning - his first flight by himself! Look out, Oregon!

Flight left a half hour late, due in part to them having to kick some passenger off for unruly behavior!! B-Son will have some stories from this flight....
