Don't know yet. I only live a couple of hours away. I could probably go just about anytime, maybe even early April. Just trying to see if there is any interest.

That is a weekend I will have my kids, but if my shedule changes, I will make plans to make it.

I hiked this trail two weeks ago and really enjoyed it. If the water is up at Allison, it can be a cold crossing.

Stikmon, the trail is near Mountain View. It is about 2.5 hours from Jonesboro. I don't know the easiest way for you to get there. It is probably the best trail near here.

I cut across country on my return from Sylamore two weeks ago. I am not sure there is any good way to get from Jonesboro to Sylamore.

The camp Friday, hike Saturday and Sunday morning is probably the best ideal. We need to get Stalker to come down and set up base camp and make some of those great breakfast burritos.lol The Sunday morning hike should be a short one.

Lost in Texas
Hey Arkie/MNR/OK gang, y'all have prolly forgotten about me down here in the Lone Star State!!

Jgeils, put me on the secret "creep" email list. Looks like April is a good month for hikes.

I have the last weekend of April booked also and will be in NJ 4/16 to 4/19 on business (don't tell my brother!!)

Keep me posted on the dates..sure would be good if Stalker could make it and do the "base camp" compund again!!

Has anyone heard from Yo Bear? He could make this one easy from Ohio.

See y'all!

I don't know of any map. You might try the park service. Blanchard Springs is run by the feds. The trail is on their(our)property.

I think we can do this in a day.

Do we have a weekend yet?

Chilli;

I was thinking at the end of the day. Which also makes it a downhill hike.

Date: Per Prowler
April 12-14 /or April 19-21

I can probably make it on the 19th,,,,definately not on the 12th. Let me know when a date is set.

Mozark...hike 14 miles.
no way I'm gonna be able to hike 14 miles...I'm just not a long distance hiker...2 days yes, not all in 1 day. I have a weekend, I like to use it, I'm in no not rush to get it all done in one day. you guys enjoy the hike.

I would rather use two days also. I would like to try that spot that chili mentioned. Is it slickrock hollow?
jgeils

Why not!

So many Trails so little Time!

The weekend of the 19th is probably better for me. I'll have to check The Calendar! LOL
Mozark

jgeils, camping at slick rock hollow would provide us with about 11 miles on the first day and 2 or 3 on the second day...it is a really good camp site

I can't go the 19 or 26 of April. Will be on family vacation. I can probably go about any other time. If the 19th is the only one that you guys can do that's cool, have a good time and I'll catch you next time around. I'll probably head up there sometime earlier if you decide to do that weekend.
jgeils

I'm on the maybe list
I still have to see what April will is going to through my way from work and visitation rights with my friend...will let ya'll know.

We did a day hike yesterday from Blanchard to Allison and back. The water was too high to cross at Allison, but it made for a great hike. Lots of waterfalls and slickrock hollow was really neat. We did a little extra exploring and probably put in about 12 miles or so. We had a great time, looking forward to going back.

3/13/02

I am good for the 19th of April or the first weekend in May...other than that, I am not sure I can make it.

jgeils, did you check the depth about 150 feet upstream from the trail crossing?

There are some shoals there about 1/3 as deep as the point where the steps hit the water.
chili36
3:31:37 PM
3/13/02

No Chili we didn't try to cross because we didn't have a shuttle anyway. I didn't see a more shallow spot though. The water was pretty muddy and moving pretty good. It wouldn't have been dangerous, but it would have been very cold. Probably would have had to carry your pack over your head to keep it dry.
