The weight difference is negligible. The difference I see is durability. The zipka has very small (18-22gauge) wire that goes to the battery pack. That is a weak point. Thin wire and its connections are notoriously fragile and in cold weather its worse. Just remember your walkman radio. What was the first thing to break? That little connection where the headphone jack plugs into the radio itself. Thin wire is bad stuff,especially when getting bumped and banged on the trail,in the pack or tossed in the gear closet.
