For me, it would probably be the guy that was carrying a set of bag pipes, for 50 miles, on BC's West Coast Trail. Natually, he broke them.

Or, the guy up near Jasper, that was fishing his camera out of the pit toilet, with a bent spoon and some 3mm line.

Wheeew, Aero
I thought that might of been me and my group you were talking about!!!!!

When we were in the Winds a few years back, a father and son (12ish) pulled in nearby where we had camp set up. We had to walk near their camp to get to the water supply for filtering. I looked over and the son had his @ss hanging over the log that was next to the fire ring and he was taking a poop. We about threw up. Couldn't believe he let his kid crap right in the camp spot.

A toss-up between:

A) At Lake Chelan, a group of neophyte out-of-state backpackers who "read in a book" that they should burn their toilet paper...even though it was almost 90 degrees and fire restrictions were in effect. I don't know if they were billed for the firefighting effort.

B) The guy in our group that climbed Mt. Baker last summer, who at basecamp decided the best place to pee was in the meltwater stream next to camp. I believe he was able to eventually remove the boot from his ass.

C) The mother and daughter and poodle I met hiking near Spray Park in Mt. Rainier. They had no other gear with them, but were resplendent in their makeup, perfume and jewelry. They asked me if they were still on the trail to Spray Park.

I saw two siamese cats heading for the top of Mt. Whitney. I was coming down, and they were going up at about 11,000 feet, and climbing fast. Their owners had taken them backpacking, camped at Trail Camp at about 10,000 feet. The two cats got away, and headed uphill. The two owners were 50 feet behind them, and trying to catch them. What a crack up!

On the same vein as kleetn, Mt. Rainier is full of tourist. You see lots of sandal clad women.

The trip would have been a whole lot less stressful, if it had been a beer wagon.

This fits here
"BANGOR, Maine — A wanted Florida sex offender who fled into the Maine woods is complaining that he lost several toes to frostbite because police were slow in arresting him.

Harvey Taylor, 48, spent at least three nights in the woods in Mattawamkeag after running from a Penobscot County Sheriff's detective a few weeks ago.

Taylor now threatens to sue the detective. "

Nigal, the sad part is he's probably going to win that lawsuit. Weird justice system.

another not dumb but strange
Saw three nuns huffing down a trail in the Smokies. Habits on their heads and Nikes on their feet. Seems there were some feral dogs they didn't want to tangle with further up the trail.

Biz,
I try not to be too judgemental but geez, the guy was whacking down trees like they were bowling pins.
In the sub-artic environment, those things grow back SLOW.

As to the pots and pans, what the hell, his raft didn't sink so I suppose more power to him. Bottom line: If he hadn't whipped out the chain saw, he'd have never earned a thread.
