I am adding photos to my MSN Photo page to be able to link to them from other websites. How do I go about doing this? I have noticed a lot of people try to link to their photos but you can't view them because they post the link while they are logged in.

All depends on how you sign in.

You could sign as LIZs, Lizs, LizS, lizS....

I keep asking him the same thing Lizs and I keep getting a "whatcha talkin about Willis?" type of response. hmmmmmmmm......

Back to the story... ;-)
Are you trying to post an image here? I am not familiar with the MSN photo page but many of the freebie sites do not allow images to be remotely posted on other sites. If you have the url of an image on your photo page, you can give it a try. I'll try to post an example of the lingo below:

<img src="http://www.YOUR_PHOTO_URL">

An example of a photo on my website would look like:
<img src="http://www.bjcreations.com/savanna3.jpg">

Let's see if the image shows up:

If it didn't work, sue me. LOL!
What's the address of your photo page?

I don't have any photos uploaded yet. I just didn't want to bother if I couldn't link to them. We want to scan images of our house and make a page of them. This way when we try to sell we can have photos to link to and create a For Sale page on various sites.

Welll, upload something as a test and let's give it a go.

BTW - you ever get any work done? *snicker*

Pennsy, Don't you have a web based photo page somewhere? Isn't it MSN?

MSN
Adventurist,
You should be able to link to them once they are posted. I used to have one of those MSN sites specifically for times like this because Geocities won't allow it.

I don't have an MSN photo page but a Webshots page. I only have a few dacks pics on it but here goes a test to see if the image will post here:

If it did work, here's what I did. I surfed to the image, right clicked it, selected properties and copied the address pointing to the jpg image.

Html pasted here looks like:

No dice...Red X in a box...
I think its a browser issue.

I've never see the red box that y'll have mentioned in the past. I just see a torn picture icon. I thought you had to include width and height variable too when linking to a image.

In the past I 've made the mistake of linking to a pic when I was "logged in". That doesn't work. I wonder if this will.....

Whats the difference between 'link location' and ' image location"?

I think the link location will give you whole page that the image is on while the image location just gives that one image?

That is correct.

Cool deal, it worked for you! Wait til you get my bill. ;o)

What's strange is that the webshots link worked the first time I posted it. The X came later. I have to assume it's got something to do with the way webshots writes their links. They would prefer people visiting the actual webpage rather than having the images on their server directly linked.

It's not a width and height issue because I included those in the link. Too bad, it's a neat photo of AmyG chugging Irish Whiskey. ;-)

Pennsy Hiker,
It worked for you the first time because the picture was stored in your cache. Most free sites won't allow the remote posting. I saw that picture by right-clicking and copy/pasting the URL.

Troll,Cool picture! Where was it taken?

Interesting though - it's decided to show up again, and aero's webshots image is showing. I'm glad I have some of my own web space. This could drive me to the bar! (hmmm - not a bad thing though)
