Men vs Women Rehash

“A lot of men on this board post various women bashing comments, either in general or with specific gripes....How many women on TT spend much time bashing and griping about men in general or specifically? Like......NONE!!!

Are our men perfect, or maybe we just have better things to do than to post negative thoughts. But if these women bashing posts allow you to hike better, then bash away. Afterall, this is a backpacking site.”

If in fact there is more women-bashing than man-bashing here (and come to think of it, that is probably true,) it is about the only place I have been in the past 20 years where that is the case.

In general, it seems that men are just about the only group that can be "bashed" and still be considered "politically correct."

I suppose I am more sensitive to that than most...which may be why I refrain from most (even good-natured) women-bashing.

Now...I did tease you just the *tiniest* bit about bringing two hairbrushes on that WRT trip. ;-)

But that could hardly be construed as woman-bashing.”

Most of the ones who are doing the bashing are so insensitive, calloused and uncaring to the opinions or feelings of others that they don't care what others think or feel. The rest just don't see anything wrong with it, it's normal behaviour to them, and they have no clue you're talking to them. They're not even opening this thread.

Ever watch a sitcom, or the ads on TV & radio? Every man, almost without exception, in a sitcom, is stupid, insecure, macho, etc, etc. and needs his wife to bail him out of every situation. Some of the ads I hear would infuriate the women if the genders were reversed.”

I think you have a great point. It reminds me of a great book on the subject of the cultural difference is male and female conversation.
