Mousetail Landing S.P. Backpack March 2- 3View MessagesViewing posts 1 to 4 of 4 messages posted.
“A couple of my friends and I are backpacking this weekend at Mousetail Landing State Park near Linden, TN. We are meeting at the ranger station at noon on Saturday and hiking 3 miles to a trail shelter and after setting up camp hiking to an overlook over the river. This is a rustic area and off the beaten track in TN. If anyone is interested in going, email me at Adelicia1@aol.com” 11:57:55 PM 2/27/02 “Mousetail Landing is approx. 100 miles west of Nashville.” 11:59:25 PM 2/27/02 “Mousetail is a great spot for a short weekend trip. I wish I could make it, but no go for this weekend.” 8:46:28 AM 2/28/02 “I hiked the 8 mile backpack look yesterday. A really really NICE trail. There are three trails in the area -- this is the so-called "backpacking" loop. The shelters are exceptional, screened-in with a wood stove inside. The one over by the Tennessee River has a picnic table. The ONLY downside is that there is no water at the actual shelter areas. I give it a D+ for overnight because of that fact, but a A- for a fun dayhike. The terrain is wonderfully diverse, and some of the views are excellent. Good wildlife too -- 14 deer, 2 turkey and a fox. Anyways, walked the whole loop in about 4.5 hrs which includes my breaks and lunchtime.” 9:24:45 AM 1/29/06
