“I personally prefer feeder goldfish. After a year in the pond they grow to be about five inches long with long wavey tails. They cost a dime and aren't fussy. When you can't catch one to bring it inside for winter it's not that big of a deal when the pond freezes, if your pond is five or six feet deep they'll survive the cold. When a great egret comes and eats all but one fish it's disapointing but it's not like they cost you $13 each or more.

“I know all about the egrets herons and racoons! I had a blue heron fishing worms out of our bird bath one morning, after a rainy night. There's aa helluva lot of racoons around here, because a woman up the block feeds them all. I'm getting pond mesh to cover it with, and I'll be decorating a piece of pvc pipe with rocks glued on the with aquarium glue for the fish to hide under.”

I hate it when people feed the "sweet little animals" in the neighborhood. My stupid neighbor next door hand feeds the damn squirrels oatmeal raisen cookies. They run right up to my feet when I walk out the door. It's all I can do to not kick them right of my porch. I hate squirrels.”

“Birch used to get them with his pellet gun. Once one fell out of a tree into the neighbor's yard who feeds them. He stopped after that. We had some owls move into the neighborhood and that seems to be helping out.

HOI, we'd probably be lucky enough to snare a skunk, lol. I hear you can eat them but I don't care to try.”
