I have loved my go-lite packs. They've hauled well over the "legal limit"

The new Odyssey at over 5000 cu in. weights a little more but has the heft to carry bigger loads. It's like going from a Focus to an SUV. I plan to try it out on the Black Forest Trail and use it for long outings. Will post a gear review if I remember.

Dhutch, that sounds like the pack that HPM needs. But then again, he's not constantly out with the scouts now. I may check out the GO-Lite stuff myself. Not that I've backpacked in forever...

Move to Colorado. :) Twice a year, the headquarters in Boulder runs a factory sale. Last year, it was at least half off everything they had...”

I am looking to buy a pack that can carry heavier loads for 7-8 day trips. My Trek has been overloaded many times but you can feel it which is why I don't want to use it for a long trip.
I was surprised to see Go-Lite come out with packs for heavier loads. Per the catalog I think the Odyssey can handle up to 50 lbs. The Quest doesn't look bad either and it can handle loads up to 45 lbs.

dhutch, You had better do a gear review :)

If Go-Lite prices give nosebleeds, stay away from Arc'Teryx, Ibex, Bibler... VBG

Hey Roam -- Next time they have one of those sales, be sure to post -- !

My trek has been overloaded way too many times and been in service 4 years despite my misuse. The hip belt is starting to give at a seam but only because I've overstuffed it soooo many times. The Odyssey definetely looks like it would handle 50 if you want to carry it. The fabric is heaftier and it weighs about 1 1/2 pounds more because it does have a lightweight suspension vs the Trek without. I want it for the extra space cause I hate having to be really picky about how I pack each morning.

I think Go-lite packs are very reasonable in comparison to others. The clothing can be expensive but I have stuff that's held up extremely well.

Ewker - for you darlin, I'll remember. :-)

back pack

hmmmm...this looks like a larger version of the Jam 2 which I have and really like. The specs give the volume capacity, but not the weight capacity.

nice price

Had a power outage from the snow, so I lost a reply. Check out Sunnysports rep, not too good.
