"9/11 happened. It was Osama's fault, nobody elses. Blame him and nobody else. To do otherwise is speculation and a waste of time."

What's your logic for THAT statement? The fault lies with the perpetrators that died in the planes. To say Osama is at fault means to assume he supported the perpetrators. If so, then who supported Osama? RONALD REAGAN. Reagan created Osama. Reagan funded and trained Osama in the early eighties during the Afghan-Soviet war. Reagan also funded and built up the other so-called terrorist Saddam Hussein. Saddam did everything Reagan asked of him. We've been paying dearly for Reagan's dumb@ass foreign policy, and likely will now for decades into the future.

According to the Washington Post, Congress and the judiciary have separate continuity plans but do not maintain a 24-hour presence in fortified facilities. Having Cheney protected ensures constitutional succession of the executive branch. The ‘forth branch’ of government (the military) has long maintained redundant command and control centers.

I don’t think that an interim government consisting of managers would be an ideal situation, but it would be preferable to having total government collapse in the event of a terrorist strike. I would hope that they would move toward nationwide elections of replacements rather quickly after ensuring continuity of our food, water, transportation, communications, etc. If not, well, we are still an armed citizenry and are governed by consent.

Well my shadow government is yet another way for the government to escape from responsibility... i.e. no need for responsible foreign policy.

No responsibility for balanced budgets.
No reponsibility to spend taxpayer money wisely.
No responsibility for fair elections.
No responsibility to keep the environment clean.
No responsibility to oversee the corporations. (Enron and Arthur Anderson to wit)
etc.
etc.
etc.

'Armed citizenry,' hmmmm... Good luck with That, LOL. They have tanks; you do not and I'm quite pleased. Are you SURE you don't have some ammunition buried out in the woods somewhere for The End Times?

Even A Shadow Gov't Needs ShadowProtesters
Shadow Government Attracts Shadow Protesters
UNDISCLOSED LOCATION— Decrying various unspecified aspects of the U.S. Shadow Government, an indeterminate number of Shadow Protesters gathered outside the organization's mountain retreat, sealed germ-free vault, or underground bunker, on Monday. "We unfortunately cannot comment on our feelings about the Shadow Government at this time," said an unnamed protester, neither confirming nor denying reports that he or she accused the Shadow Government of violating the U.S. Constitution. After 20 minutes of protest, the group was dispersed by members of the Shadow Secret Service, who used "means at their disposal."

It's late at night, you're cruising along, perhaps humming a mindless tune, when suddenly you hear a loud bang. A silent curse crosses your lips as you realize your government has gone flat. Fortunately, the United States now comes with a spare.

The emergency backup is not readily accessible, but is hidden away in a secure, undisclosed location.

Before Sept. 11 and for a little while afterward I was quite patriotic. But the federal government is going way overboard in expanding its powers and stripping citizens' rights. Not to mention to "shadow government."

USA too powerful, needs to be downsized.

Steve hiker,

I agree. The look on Colon Powell's face in today's paper said it all. "What the f*ck am I doing?!"
