The Earth has warmed and cooled many times long before humans ever arrived. The oceans have been 100s of feet higher and lower than they are now. None of that can be disputed. Climates change. We aren't going to stop it from happening. All we can do is learn to live with it and lessen the impacts. Especially since China, India and most developing nations will not be making any efforts to curb their emissions nor are they being asked to.” 2:04:32 PM 11/28/07 “Gorebal Warning by a socialist who is talking about his own failures as a socialist religion kook - but don't worry , it'll all be okay on the arrival of the NEXT NEO-CONIC JEBUS. If the US would make even an attempt to be serious about energy consumption and alternate forms the 3rd world would maybe, at least, copy cat something. last edited: 11/28/07 3:01:59 PM” 2:57:16 PM 11/28/07 “The pure and simple issue that global climate destruction IS man-made. It is the result on one decision made in the echoing corridors of time to take upon ourselves the power to do anything and everything we think is a good thing with no contemplation of the consequences. The second pure and simple issue is there is nothing _we_ can do about it without increasing the idiocy that caused the problem in the first place. The idiocy which says "if I _can_ do it then ipso facto, I _should_.” 3:34:41 PM 11/28/07 “RamblinRev, help me, I'm trying to understand what you're trying to say here: “The pure and simple issue that global climate destruction IS man-made. Did you mean to say that you think Climate Desctruction is man-made? Just wanted to clarify, if that's what you meant you left out a couple words... It is the result on one decision made in the echoing corridors of time to take upon ourselves the power to do anything and everything we think is a good thing with no contemplation of the consequences. What "one decsion" was that? The second pure and simple issue is there is nothing _we_ can do about it without increasing the idiocy that caused the problem in the first place. The idiocy which says "if I _can_ do it then ipso facto, I _should_.” Not sure what you're referring to here, can you please explain? ramblinrev 1:34:41 PM 11/28/07” 3:56:23 PM 11/28/07 “I am quite sure if you consider my user name and my vocation you can come to an informed conclusion about the event I am citing. if you need more information than that, think Genesis in the Bible. last edited: 11/28/07 4:01:32 PM” 4:00:12 PM 11/28/07 “Have no idea what you're referring to, rev. Why can't you explain?” 4:29:46 PM 11/28/07 “If you have no idea then you are not likely to follow the reasoning. But here goes. The world/universe was created in perfection. The length of time and process are not critically essential to the issue at this point. Two humans were given stewardship over the earth to subude it and populate it. However, one stipulation was placed on that. They were not "eat of the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of good and evil. If they did they would surely die. The precise nature of that stipulation is not clear. But the woman chose to disobey that directive, followed by the man choosing to disobey. At that point the perfection of the creation was shattered. The rest is history. The fundamental issue is that by choosing to do whatever we want to do, regardless of what the consequences are we lay the the foundation for our own further destruction. There is no way we can get back to that state of environmental perfection on our own. Just can't happen. Incidentally, just ofr kicks and giggles, a study of mitocondrial DNA (which reflects only the maternal lineage) has indicted that all people groups may very well share single maternal ancestor. In that one decision event the rest of the story was set into motion. Human action initiated it all.” 4:55:22 PM 11/28/07 “CNN debate- You are wrong until you find where in the bible it says you are right. An apple a day keeps the snake in your way. last edited: 11/28/07 5:21:03 PM” 5:18:36 PM 11/28/07 “right on” 6:58:00 PM 11/28/07 “Cool.... Original Sin! Heck, I haven't been to Sunday School in forty years and I knew that! < WINK >” 7:02:16 PM 11/28/07 “Tilt.... even I... an avowed pagan for many years knew that story from my childhood. Of course I don't view it the same way now as then... but then a lot of things have changed..” 7:14:34 PM 11/28/07 “And everything follows from that! Oh yeah.....” 9:11:10 PM 11/28/07 “I'll tell ya what, when it comes to stuff like this I personally get over saturated with a subject to the point I simply glaze over when it comes up. I was watching Nature the other night and the show was about this orangutan who was an orphan and then became King of the Jungle. It was an awesome show until the last 10 minutes where everything shifted to how evil man is and how these great creature's time is short if we don't do something fast and blah, blah, blah, boohoo, boohoo. The whole breast cancer awareness crusade does the same thing to me. Now, I hate breast cancer as much as the next person but I get sick and tired of having it shoved in my face at every chance and then every other company goes pink for a month to sell more product. Did you know only 10,000 more people die of breast cancer than prostate cancer? Ya don't see me running around rubbing my prostate in people's faces do ya and demanding everyone goes brown for October?” 4:01:00 AM 11/29/07 “But the woman chose to disobey that directive - ramblinrev Gotta love the misogynist side of xtianity. Though it takes that kind of small mindedness to believe that climate change is caused by sin. I mean, how completely idiotic, stupid, imbecilic, brainless, dense, nonsensical, ludicrous, laughable, and inane is that!!” 4:50:28 AM 11/29/07 “ugh... It is way too early in the morning for that image.... Thanks for sharing...” 4:50:34 AM 11/29/07 “Mutt must have taken a sleep break. Took a long time for that peanut gallery to check in” 4:51:41 AM 11/29/07 “Small minded bigotry should be called out for what it is.” 4:52:50 AM 11/29/07 “Oh good... Mutt is back current with us... no delays for his great piercing wisdom” 4:56:56 AM 11/29/07 “Is it dead yet? Is it dead yet? Is it dead yet? Is it dead yet? Is it dead yet? Is it dead yet?” 5:09:13 AM 11/29/07 “The precise nature of that stipulation is not clear. But the woman chose to disobey that directive, followed by the man choosing to disobey. At that point the perfection of the creation was shattered. The rest is history. Not exactly. This theology only stands up when viewed within the scope of christianity. Original sin is wholly a christian theology. Yes the nature and role of man did change but it was not eternally sullied or made dirty by his actions. In fact it is a beautiful example of sin, redemption and forgiveness. They sinned, repented, received their punishment and were forgiven. As Isaiah states, if we repent and turn back to G-d our sins, though they be red as scarlet are made white as snow and forgotten for all time. last edited: 11/29/07 5:10:26 AM” 5:09:18 AM 11/29/07 “... they sinned, believed, repented, received their punishment and were forgiven ...” 5:11:31 AM 11/29/07 “Ramblinrev, I'm glad you posted your profound theory on climate change. I always get a kick out of the religious ignoratti chiming in. I mean, here we have a high level debate (not on TT, but the debate among scientists in general) among highly educated people, utilizing modern science and empirical data, and reason, but on the other hand there's people like ramblin rev, in the corner, dressed in animal skins beating on a drum proclaiming "My book teachum Rib-Woman sin causes climate change! Repent to zombie-lord! Booga-booga-booga!" The contrast is utterly hilarious, and yet you feel compelled to publicly display your stone-age ignorance for all to see. Never fails to amaze me how pathetic that is. Christians do indeed have a persecution complex.” 5:12:21 AM 11/29/07 “i dont think anyone here really believes the story of adam and eve is literal, but theres a good moral in it: you fvck with shhit, shhit gets fvcked up” 5:19:18 AM 11/29/07 “Yeah, xtianity is profound like that.” 5:22:19 AM 11/29/07 “8 thousand years ago, that would have been pretty profound” 5:23:21 AM 11/29/07 “Maybe so, crash bang, but the point here is that ramblinrev has been a perfect example of how Christians have a powerful drive to insert their religion into science. Like Intelligent Design, ramblinrev's theory has ZERO applicability on any practical or theoretical level.” 5:31:44 AM 11/29/07 “We can't even agree on what was intended by the US Constitution and it was written 230 years ago with plenty of surviving ancillary documents. Yet we are supposed to take a document that was cobbled together thousands of years ago from fireside story tales that go back to the dawn of time and base our energy policy on it?” 5:40:07 AM 11/29/07 “And me without one reference to a Mel Brooks Movie or a Monty Python movie....gonna be a long day. Look lets see about the history of the planet....this is a planet that has been hit a couple times with asteroids that would most likely have been KILLER strikes (something we could never come even CLOSE to recreating). Yet it survived....where do the Members of the High Church of GlobalWarming get off thinking they are so superior to anything in history that we could really have that much of an impact? It is the pure and simple narcissitic arrogance of the typical Socialist...they believe MAN has all this freaking power...hate to tell them but THEY DON'T” 5:57:25 AM 11/29/07 “the planet survived. the dinosaurs didnt” 5:59:24 AM 11/29/07 “"It is the pure and simple narcissitic arrogance of the typical Apparently this is true as well.” 6:01:04 AM 11/29/07 oh, and...... “ ![]() no one thinks we're going to destroy the planet. just that we're going to make it uninhabitable” 6:03:10 AM 11/29/07 “Mutt - what in heck are you basing that on? That's opposite to any argument I've ever heard from a Christian perspective on the environment.” 6:03:20 AM 11/29/07 “Mutt ...true Christians are not Socialists....Socialisim seeks to place MAN at the tip of the ladder....it seeks to use Man to Make man superior...sorry. My faith seeks to allow each person to grow to meet their part of God's Great Plan for THEM. It requires personal dedication to seeking and growing. The reason much of the Christian Church of today has so many problems is that people get in there and begin bending GOD to their rules....That is what RELIGION is (IMHO) it is putting God in "our" idea of a box.” 6:08:53 AM 11/29/07 “Our time on earth isn't a training ground for our time on earth. We are not being groomed to be better people.” 6:12:05 AM 11/29/07 “Sarge, do you have ramblinrev on ignore or something?” 6:12:54 AM 11/29/07 “We are not being groomed to be better people.ˇ± and it shows ~wink~” 6:14:46 AM 11/29/07 “I wouldn't go so far as to say "no one" is saying that, but I agree with your point. We could make this planet uninhabitable for humans. But that isn't the point of Gore and his ilk. His point is that we have to maintain the environment to the exact system we have now. We could still live here if the coasts flooded and the deserts became farmland. We would just have to adapt. I read somewhere that Northern England used to have a lot of vineyards once upon a time. How did that happen?” 6:15:29 AM 11/29/07 “for the record hyway, im not an advocate of man-made global warming. i was just pointing out xl's silly-ass strawman” 6:19:18 AM 11/29/07 “Sarge, do you have ramblinrev on ignore or something? No, but I don't usually read his posts anymore because his contempt of Christians disgusts me considering his title. Why? Were you saying that is what he was saying? If so, sorry, didn't realize you were pointing out Rev's flawed logic.” 6:21:55 AM 11/29/07 “crash - how come on issues like this where you take the generally considered "conservative" side, you don't speak up about your ideas? Don't be afraid to speak up. You're like the opposite of Nigal, a closet liberal. (no offense Nigal)” 6:27:20 AM 11/29/07 “Yes, that's what ramblinrev was saying.” 6:28:07 AM 11/29/07 “Should've known ...” 6:29:38 AM 11/29/07 “Nigel... sorry there is a delay here. I was taking a break. You are correct about original sin being a Christian concept. Thanks for clarifying that.” 6:33:07 AM 11/29/07 “I know you aren't crash, thats why I didn't include you in "Gore and his ilk".” 6:33:12 AM 11/29/07 mr sarge “ive stated many times im a moderate and that i hold beliefs both ways. i dont need to prove anything to anybody. but here goes in 1988, i voted republican i have never voted democrat if ron paul gets the nomination, i just may vote republican again in 2008 i voted for use of force in afghanistan altho i wouldnt be surprised if global warming is occurring, i am far from convinced its our fault britney spears is a bad mother meat is not murder neither is capital punishment but abortion is jack bauer is the sht anything else youd like to know? last edited: 11/29/07 6:37:45 AM” 6:37:24 AM 11/29/07 “crash, will you marry me?” 6:39:24 AM 11/29/07 more...... “kids these days are too disrespectful. more discipline, less playstation is needed i once applied to the u.s. army political correctness is for pu$$ies the bible has some good stuff in it” 6:41:48 AM 11/29/07 “crash - I didn't say anything about you going both ways. I said that you don't back your conservative beliefs. You back your liberal beliefs, but not your conservative ones.” 6:42:52 AM 11/29/07 “crash, will you marry me? the liberal side of me says "i do", but the conservative side of me says that is an abomination upon the lord and you will burn in hell” 6:43:34 AM 11/29/07 “kinky” 6:45:21 AM 11/29/07
