Not really the south?
So says the guy from the other side of the continental divide.

There is some South south of Gainesville. If you drive down 27 through Avon Park, Sebring and Okeechobee you see a weird amalagmation of ohio snowbirds, cracker cattlemen and orange grovers and cuban and native american agricultural workers. It's feels more South than North.

Orlando still feels a bit South at times - when you're away from Disney.

Inverness, which is between Gainesville and Tampa, is VERY southern.

I received plenty of Southern hospitality in Florida. hmmmm, there was some Southern Comfort too.
