While looking through the March Backpacker Gear Guide, I was inspired by a picture of a mountain trail on page 69.Do any TT'rs recognize this location? It looks like an awsome hike. Anybody willing to take a guess? I have a feeling it is somewhere in Montana or Wyoming but not sure. Thanks!

I looked at it and didn't recognize it. It didn't remind me of anything in So. Calif.

The dirt road that made three or four very sweeping switchbacks up to the summit was interesting. Maybe it was in the Rockies?

Scan it and post it so we can all see it.

I don't get the Backpacker Gear guide.

Computer enhancement
It looks like it's been enhanced quite a bit. It could be a non-existent place.

You can see the trail winding downt the valley and also see it making switchbacks up the mountin. There's also what appears to be a glacier in the upper left corner of the picture.

I think it's too good to be true.

The Saskawana Mountains
Rhode Island.

I did a trail report for my hike in the Hoochiecoochie Wilderness last Fall.

Beautiful mountain range!

I don't have it in front of me, but sounds like it could be around Durango or Silverton, Colorado. I know I've seen shots of switchbacks going up rugged mountains from that area. Big 4 WD country. I think that's where the dorks who didn't know how to 4 WD took them on th e 30-degree slope, then couldn't get them back down. Had to have experts come in to do that.

Hmmmmmmmm... I mean Silverton or Telluride. Durango sits lower and isn't quite in the mountains.

I agree with icepak. The pic looks a bit enhanced in the background.

OK, looking at the ad. NOT Telluride. And, hmmmmmmmm, it does look enhanced. Switchbacks are never quite THAT VISIBLE!!!

It is not Telluride.

Judging by the sagebrush, could be anywhere in North America where there is semi-desert.

I agree the picture looks contrived.

The location in The Backpacker March issue is Dutch Johns Meadow in Bishop Ca. It seemed too good to be true but New Balance wrote me back and confirmed location. Looks like a good one!!
